QUESTION ONE (30MKS)
a) If 𝑋 = 2.356 find the absolute error and relative error when
(i) X is rounded (2mks)
(ii) X is truncated to two decimal place (2mks)
b) Using method of Bisection solve the equation 𝑒 𝑥 − 3𝑥 = 0 correct two decimal places
(5mks)
c) Find the root of𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 1 = 0 by iteration method given that the root lies near 1.
(5mks)
d) By constructing a different table and taking the second order difference as constant, find
the sixth term of series 8,12,19,29,42,... (3mks)
e) Find the real root of the equation 𝑒𝑥 𝑥 − 2 = 0 correct to two decimal places, using
Newton`s-Raphson method. (5mks)
f) Find the Newton`s forward difference interpolating polynomial for the data below.

of flight as recorded is given in the table below.
