BLACKBOARD READER RESPONSE #3 ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

BASJ300 – Legal Research and Writing


Fall 2023

Assignment Information

1. You are required to submit an academic response to the article posted on Blackboard
entitled, “What is Legal Research?”.

2. In your response explain at least three important components of legal research you
have learned from the article and how they would apply to being a better legal
researcher.

3. (Reminder, do not use personal pronouns like “I” or “we” in your response).

4. You are required to include three quotations from the article in your response. Make
sure they are cited properly.

5. Your response must be three (3) double spaced pages in length. Your margins must be
normal (2.54 cm) on all sides.

6. Your response is due December 6, 2023, by 11:59 pm (midnight).

7. The responses must be done individually and they must be submitted electronically in
Microsoft Word format through the “Assignment Submission” area on Blackboard. The
response must be in Microsoft Word so I can apply track changes for my comments and
edits. If you submit your response in a different format you will be deduced marks.

8. Include a separate title page for the assignment. The title page will be in addition to the
3 pages of written content.

9. Include a separate bibliography for the assignment where you properly cite any outside
sources. The citation style for this assignment is not specified.

10. The response is worth 5% of your total grade in this course. It will be graded out of 15
marks. The rubric used to evaluate each response is on the next page.

11. 25% of your final grade on each response will be deducted for every day the assignment
is late (including Saturday and Sunday).
