DAY TIME VENUE

Tuesday 14:10 – 15:00 Department (SC213)
Wednesday 11:10 – 12:00 Department (SC213)

Important information concerning attendance:2

Class attendance, according to the UFS General Rules A9.1(a), is compulsory. A

minimum attendance of 75% is required to 1) be admitted to the examinations, and
2) successfully complete this module. Absences therefore need to be supported by a
valid medical certificate or equally valid excuse within 24 hours of the assessment to
qualify for an additional assessment. Based on this, the Department of Greek, Latin and
Classical Studies has set the following guiding principles:

 Class attendance is very important if students wish to complete their studies

successfully. Ideally, 100% attendance should be strived for.
 Students need a minimum attendance of 75% to pass a module (continuous
assessment) or to gain access to the examination (formative/summative
assessment).
 If 75% attendance is not obtained, the module will be regarded as incomplete/failed,
unless valid reasons for non-attendance are offered with valid accompanying
documentation.
 An attendance register will be circulated during each period and it is the student’s
responsibility to make sure he/she signs the register.
 In some modules, excluding CLLT3714, class attendance will also contribute
towards the semester/module mark.

It is ultimately the responsibility of each student to ensure that he/she receives all the
information in connection with this module provided during the contact sessions. Class
attendance is therefore compulsory. Important information will, however, be made available
on Blackboard and on the Greek, Latin and Classical Studies’ notice boards.

1
Please note that, due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, there will be no contact sessions for the remainder
of this year. All matters that pertain to CLLT3724 will be communicated to all students via Blackboard
and email.
2
Class attendance is not mandatory, since there will be no contact sessions.
