Intro

An excellent teacher is a teacher who has a high performance in education and is also
capable in any skill other than education. The Malaysian Ministry of Education (2007)
defines the best teachers as teachers who have high knowledge, skills and expertise and
are always motivated when carrying out certain responsibilities and tasks, especially in the
field of teaching and learning (P&P). Therefore, they must have certain characteristics in
creating the best and quality teaching and learning atmosphere in schools in accordance
with modern learning methods.

All in all, we can understand that the role of excellent teachers is very important in producing
the best learning process. This is because students can go through their learning in a deeper
and more interesting way when the variety of teaching methods used by a teacher is
different.
Higher Level Thinking Skills (KBAT) is an effort by the Ministry of Education (KPM) to form
high intellectual skills among students after realizing the importance of producing young
people who have these skills to advance education (Nurul Suhaidi, 2022). For that, the use
of KBAT for a teacher in the teaching process is indeed highly encouraged in the teaching
process. This is because KBAT can help teachers plan more interesting lessons and enable
students to think creatively. Therefore, excellent teachers must always use this KBAT in the
teaching process for students because it can also improve student achievement. This is
because KBAT also helps students to be able to think more broadly and deeply in mastering
a subject well and effectively. For example, this excellent teacher can use ‘Cungkil and
Cetus’ methods to guide students to solve Kbat problems systematically and effectively (Siti
Sarah Raflee & Lilia Halim). This is by giving rather difficult questions from the learning topic
to students which can actually improve the level of student thinking especially in solving a
problem. In conclusion, use KBAT in the process of teaching these students can improve the
level of student thinking and at the same time it is also able to improve the skills and
professionalism of the excellent teacher himself.

Integration of Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) in education refers to the

use of computer based communication that incorporates into daily classroom instructional
process (Ghavifekr, 2015). When teachers are digitally literate and trained to use ICT, these
approaches can lead to higher order thinking skills, provide creative and individualized
options for students to express their understandings. (International Institute For Educational
Planning, 2023). Therefore it can be denied that excellent teachers should be experts in
mastering this field of ICT because it is very necessary in the teaching and learning process
nowadays. Excellent teachers must use these ICT facilities to diversify the teaching process
for students, such as preparing digital quizzes and online tests in order to assess the level of
mastery of student learning through this medium. In addition, this method can attract
students' interest in learning in addition to improving the students' ICT use skills. With the
use of ICT, excellent teachers can also create more structured and systematic teaching
when they can apply technology such as computers as a teaching tool. Overall, teachers
who use the convenience of ICT have a positive impact on the teaching and learning
process in the classroom when teachers can assess the level of student thinking through the
field of IT.

An excellent teacher use a variety of teaching methods for students so that they do not only
learn through the same method. This makes teachers should select techniques from various
approaches according to the different needs of their learners (Hoque, 2016). For example,
teachers use teaching aids while teaching that can make a learning that fun or make group
activities and make quizzes that stimulate students' thinking. In classrooms, formative
assessment refers to frequent, interactive assessments of student progress and
understanding to identify learning needs and adjust teaching appropriately (OECD, n.d.).
Based on that, this teaching should go hand in hand with the teacher's assessment of the
students to know their level of mastery in the learning process. Through this evaluation,
teachers should give feedback to students so that they can know where their weaknesses
and strengths are so that they can take action to improve their performance in learning. As a
result, teaching and assessment should move in tandem because it is an important
relationship in assessing the level of students' abilities in understanding and accepting the
objectives of the learning process.
