Narrative Essay Brainstorm


Idea 1: I could write a narrative about my experience of facing my fear of public speaking. The

story would span the course of a few days, leading up to and including the day I finally gave my

first speech in front of an audience. The conflict within the story would be my internal struggle

with my fear of public speaking and my desire to overcome it. It would address the life theme of

facing your fears, and how taking risks and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone can

ultimately lead to personal growth.

Idea 2: I could write a narrative about my experience of starting a new job. The story would span

the course of a few weeks, from the time I received the offer, to my first day and the weeks that

followed. The conflict within the story would be my internal struggle with feeling overwhelmed

and out of my depth as I adjusted to my new job and learned the ropes. It would address the life

theme of adapting to new situations, and how embracing change and facing challenges can help

you to learn and grow.

Idea 3: I could write a narrative about my experience of moving to a new city. The story would

span the course of a few months, from the time I found a place to live, to the first day I moved in

and the weeks that followed. The conflict within the story would be my internal struggle with

feeling homesick and isolated as I adjusted to my new life in a new city. It would address the life

theme of finding your place in the world, and how having the courage to take risks and create a

life for yourself can lead to personal fulfillment.
