    the King of Etrea, the Splinterblade. An exceptionally
    lethal blade that makes short work of heavy armor.

    Description

    The Shattered Katana is an endgame Medium


    Weapon, dropping from chests in high-level locations
    like Starswept Valley or The Depths. It has a base
    damage of 20 with 30% PEN, and requires 90 MED to
    equip. It shares the Katana's unique critical. At 100
    MED, it deals 34 damage.

    The Shattered Katana across various updates has


    been nerfed and is debatably no longer the best
    Medium Weapon. The addition of the Pluripotent Alloy
    has made weapons such as the Shotel or Vigil
    Longsword an easier option and, in some aspects,
    better weapons than the Shattered Katana.

    Trivia

    It is one of two weapons that comes with a


    sheathe, the other being the Katana.
    Therefore, it also works with the Poser's Ring
    and can be used to start Zana's quest.

    Its model resembles the Black Mortal Blade, a


    weapon from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
    The incredible length of the blade would classify
    this weapon as an ōdachi, as opposed to a
    katana.
    Despite its blade being much longer than the
    Katana, both weapons have 8 range.

    The talent "Paired Soul" (granted by the Vigil


    Initiate and Cloak of Winds outXts) buZs the
    Shattered Katana's damage by 5%, instead of the
    Katana's 25% dealing 35.7 damage.
    This causes both weapons to deal very similar
    damage at equivalent attribute levels. Their
    main diZerences become the PEN and swing
    speed.

    On release, the Shattered Katana had 50% PEN


    and 0.75x swing speed. It also received the full
    25% damage buZ from Paired Soul.
