1. WHAT ENTAILS A RESEARCH PROJECT

• It is an objective orientated systemic process

• Involves the collection of high volumes of information and the analysis of this
information to reach an informed conclusion
• This process is adhered to across all research/evaluation projects
• Conducted in such a way that it may be accurately replicated
• If this process is not documented with proofs for others to review, it is not considered
a scientific research process
1. WHAT ENTAILS A RESEARCH PROJECT

• This process consists of multiple steps which are interconnected with each other
• If any one of these steps are augmented all other steps must be reviewed and
necessary changes applied
• There are 8 steps required in a scientific research process
2. 8 STAGES INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH
PROCESS

• 1: Formulating a research problem . Establishing a decent exploration problem

• There are 4 distinct ways of dealing with detailing of exploration issues:
• The hole approach

• The grounded approach

• The riddle approach

• The entertainer approach

2. 8 STAGES INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH
PROCESS
• 2: conceptualising the research design
• An exploration configuration serves 2
significant capacities
• To detail the methodology for
undertaking an investigation
• To guarantee that, on account of casualty,
the free factor has the greatest chance to
have its impact on the reliant variable

tools/
2. 8 STAGES INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH
PROCESS

• 3: creating an instrument for collecting data: Instrument is portrayed as a gadget to

gather information, encourage variable perception and estimation
• 4: selecting a sample: this consists of 2 strategies:
• Probability sampling: includes irregular determination, permitting you to make
measurable conclusions about the entire gathering
• Non-Probability sampling: involves non-random selection based on convenience or other
criteria, allowing you to easily collect initial data
2. 8 STAGES INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH
PROCESS
• 5: writing a research proposal: a research proposal informs the reader about the
research topic and how you are planning on approaching the investigation. A
research proposal’s main function is to detail the operational plan for obtaining
answers to your research question
• 6: collecting Data: data collection research methods tend to be more tangible to
novice researchers, rather than the abstractness of research designs
• 7: processing data: the essence of data processing in research is data reduction.
• This involves winnowing out the irrelevant from the relevant data and establishing order
from chaos
2. 8 STAGES INVOLVED IN A RESEARCH
PROCESS

8: writing a research report: the primary motive of research reports is to convey

integral details about a study
• This is for marketers to consider while designing new strategies
• ideal research reports are extremely accurate in the offered information with a clear
objective and conclusion

PROCESS
3. SAMPLE POPULATION

• Population - a group of people that

conclusions can be assumed about
• Population Sample – specified
extracted amount of people from
the population. (Bhandari,2020)

3. SAMPLE POPULATION-WHY IS IT
IMPORTANT
• More actual and factual readings
• Faster than collecting data from the
entire population
• Sifting of subjects Can be any
quantitative aspect, not just people in
specific,
For example, height; objects; events and
many others. (Banerjee & Chaudhury,
2010)
