What is NCD?

Non-communicable diseases (NCD) or


lifestyle diseases represent a significant burden
on public health regardless of the country’s
economic development and are likely to account
for an increasing share of diseases in the future,
particularly in developing countries.
In the Philippines, heart diseases,
cancers, vascular diseases, diabetes and COPD
are 5 of the 10 leading causes of deaths in the
country. Three of these diseases are in the top 5
positions (diseases of the heart and the vascular
system, cancers). These
diseases make up 40% of all
Filipino deaths.
