2. Uses of each Tools

 Broach - A long, tapered cutting tool with serration's which, when forced through
a hole or across a surface, cuts a desired shape or size.
 Drill press - Drill presses are more powerful and stable than handheld drills
and can be used for various manufacturing tasks besides drilling holes.
 End mill - is a type of milling cutter used for the milling process.
 Bench Grinder - This is a powered machine for shaping the cutting edges of
tools.
 Drill - Drilling operations are done primarily in drill presses but sometimes on
lathes or mills.
 Milling - A milling machine cuts metal as the work piece is fed against a rotating
cutting tool called a milling cutter.
 Chuck - A device on a machine tool to hold the workpiece or a cutting tool.
 Angle plate - A precision holding fixture made of cast iron. steel, or granite.
 Angle grinder - Angle grinders or disc grinders, side grinders are a handheld
power tool which cut, grind, and polish metal and non-metal objects.
 Cutter - Is typically a hardened metal tool that is used to cut, shape, and remove
material from a work piece.
 Band saw - Is machine that uses a long, continuous blade running in one direction
to cut lines and curves in sheets and short blocks.
 Caliper - The caliper is one of the important machinist measuring tools for those
just beginning into machining.
 Cylindrical Grinder - Cylinder grinder has two axles for left/right table feed and
forward/back grindstone.
 Planer - Are used to shape metal as it passes underneath a stationary blade.
 Sander – Sanders are used to get a smooth finish.
 Saw - They are used for smoothing inside holes and circular grooves, and for
sharpening certain kinds of saw.
 Belt sander - A belt sander is made up of a rotor turning a drum mounted with
sandpaper.
 Lathe Center - Is a tool that has been ground to a point to accurately position a
work piece on an axis.
 Cold Saw - Cold saws are also great for cutting, through both ferrous and non-
ferrous materials.
 Plasma Cutting - It is a power driven metal cutting machine which assists in
managing the needed relative motion between cutting tool and the job that
changes the size.
