Use Case Name Check available funds

Scenario Check funds to see if there is enough money to purchase the


books
Triggering Event Academic contacts LLO to request ordering of book, before
authorization can occur must check available funds to see if
they can pay for the books
Brief Description When academics request a book, the LLO may be required
to check the relevance of the book, then they are required to
check available funds to see if there is many available to pay
for the books requested.

Stakeholders Academic – to request a wanted book
LLO – check the available funds, check the relevance of the

Precondition Request must be made
Check the relevance of the book
Postcondition Authorise request if funds available
Inform librarian of the books wanted
Flow of events 1. Academic sends paper request or email request
2. LLO receives request
3. Check item relevance – may require questioning if
LLO can not see relevance
4. Once item is considered relevant will then check
funds for particular school to see if they can afford
books
5. Once funds checked authorization will occur so book
details will be sent to librarian for creation of order.
Exception Conditions If unavailable funds may cut the number of required books
If unavailable funds authorization will not occur or request
will be put on hold until funds are available
If unavailable funds book details will not go to librarian

particular school – may be assumed or questions may need
to be asked
Brief Description When academics request a book, the LLO may be required
to check the relevance of the book – this is done by either
assuming what the book will be used for (required course
material) or through questioning the academic of the reason
it is wanted.
