OVERVIEW

The much-debated
digitalisation and
electrification has set in with
a bang in the automotive
retail sector. Auto
dealerships are facing a
paradigm shift in every
aspect of the business. The
transition is in the kind of
vehicles being sold and the
technologies and methods
applied to sell. A recent study by ETAuto
reveals that almost 80% of the automobile
retailers either have entered the electric
vehicle aftermarket or are ready for that.
The report also shows that over 15% of
automobile sales are digitally influenced.

In the journey of the retail industry along

the new path, several new norms and
milestones will be set. As the new paradigm
unfolds, the industry may steamroll the ICE
segment.

The pandemic taught many lessons in a very

dynamic environment. In its first part, the
rural markets were unscathed. But now they
are slipping away pointing to the economic
malaise creeping into the agrarian sector.
This will have a far reaching impact on
vehicle sales, especially of those in the entry
level, both of the two-wheelers and the
four-wheelers.
