Hello, everyone. Thank you for having me.

My name is Ira Singh, and I am

going to be speaking to you today about The Importance of Millets. The
question arises: Why the sudden surge in interest and discussion about
millets? What makes these ancient small-seeded cereal grains worthy of
such attention, particularly from diabetics, dietitians, and nutritionists?

In recent times, our global community has witnessed a disturbing increase

in health issues such as diabetes, obesity, heart failure, cholesterol
complications, and weakened immunity. The majority of our diets are
dominated by rice, corn, or wheat-based products. Unfortunately,
processing these grains often strips away vital nutrients and fibers in the
outer bran layer, leaving us with a diet primarily rich in carbohydrates and
lacking in essential nutrients.

Consuming low-fiber, high-carbohydrate cereals like rice and regular wheat

leads to rapid spikes in blood sugar levels, posing a threat to our overall
health. It is in this context that millets emerge as a healthier alternative.

These little grains are a powerhouse of nutrition, which help in improving

heart health and can effectively reduce coronary blockage. It is enriched with
the goodness of magnesium, which can effectively reduce blood pressure
and risk of stroke and heart attacks.

Beyond personal health benefits, the cultivation and consumption of millets

present advantages for farmers and the environment. Millets require less
water for production, making them suitable for arid and semi-arid regions.

In conclusion,I would like to Say that, As we move towards a more

sustainable future, it is important to understand the
potential of millets as a valuable food crop. By promoting
the production and consumption of millet, we can create a
more resilient and sustainable food system. Let us strive for
moderation in all aspects of our lives, as the key to a holistic lifestyle lies in
achieving balance. Thank you.
