Weight Category = Overweight

3) Marie is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 182 pounds. What’s her BMI? Indicate the weight category.

Solution:

Marie’s Weight – 182 lbs

Marie’s Height – 5 feet and 6 inches or 66 inches (1 ft = 12 inches ; 5 x 12 = 60 + 6 = 66)

BMI = weight (pounds) X (height (inches)² x 703

BMI = 182 x 703

(66)²

BMI = 182 x 703

4356

BMI = 127946

4356
BMI = 29.3 / 29 (Overweight)

Weight Category = Overweight

4) Max is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. What is his BMI? Indicate the weight category.

Solution:

Max’s Weight – 210 lbs

Max’s Height – 5 feet and 9 inches or 69 inches (1 ft = 12 inches ; 5 x 12 = 60 + 9 = 69)

BMI = weight (pounds) X (height (inches)² x 703

BMI = 210 x 703

(69)²

BMI = 210 x 703

4761

BMI = 147630

4761

BMI = 31 (Obese)

BMI = weight (pounds) X (height (inches)² x 703

BMI = 132 x 703

(64)²

BMI = 132 x 703

4096
BMI = 92796

4096

BMI = 22.6 / 23 (Normal)

Weight Category = Normal
