1.
Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General
Information, Description and Operation).
2. NOTE: Make sure that all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
have been removed after the road test.
Make sure that the transmission is not in emergency operation
mode.

Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment

3.
1. Fully apply the brake pedal and parking brake.
2. Start the engine.
4.

5.

6. Disconnect the Ford diagnostic equipment.

Remove the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment

7. Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12G, Removal and Installation).
Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering
- 2.0L EcoBoost (149kW/203PS) - MI4/2.0L EcoBoost
(177kW/240PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).

9. NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is standing on a level

surface.
Refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and
Operation).
10. If equipped.

11. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

Using a measuring container to collect the escaping transmission
fluid until continuous flow changes into single drops.

12. NOTE: If
transmission fluid
escapes it is not an
indication that the
fluid level is correct.
1. Main control

fluid level.
2. Gear set and
clutch chamber
transmission
fluid level.
3. Fluid level check
bore.
13. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Use a measuring container to collect the escaping transmission
fluid. Fill transmission fluid in 250 ml steps into the filling bore
until transmission fluid drains out through the fluid level check
bore again and wait until continuous flow changes into single
drops.

transmission
fluid level.

15.
Recalculation of the old transmission fluid level:
Using the measuring container, add the escaping
transmission fluid to the before collected transmission fluid.
Collected transmission fluid – filled transmission fluid = old
transmission fluid level (e.g. if 300 ml (250 ml + 50 ml =
300ml) have been collected and 2x 250 ml have been filled
into the transmission, would mean that the old transmission
fluid level was 200 ml (300ml - 500 ml = -200 ml) to low).
