interesting customs.

of islands, seem 4000 islands.
- What impressed me most about Korea is their unique culture. They are
world famous for their traditional costumes, you know Hanbook.
Especially now, Korean music groups or movies, dramas are
dominating the world's chart.
- That's right, now when we talk about Korea, we will definitely talk
about popular groups like BTS or Blackpink, or recent popular Korean
dramas.
- If I have a chane, I will definitely book a ticket and fly to Korea
immediately.
- Haha, me too.
2. Do you know any festivals in Korea?
- Yeah, as I know, Korea also has festivals like us such as: Jeju Fire
Festival- Welcoming Best Of Health & Harvest, Seongsan Sunrise
Festival- Welcoming The New Year, Hansik- In Memory Of The
Ancestors
- But to me as to everyone else the most famous Korean festival is
definitely the chuseok festival- Korean Thanksgiving Day.
- Oh, I know this festival though I have no idea about the festivals you
mentioned earlier
3. They are very famous for this festival, do you know about the
customs of that festival?
- As far as I know, Chuseok takes place in the middle of the 8th lunar
month, this year seems to be on Thursday, September 19. It usually
takes place over 3 days, and this is an important occasion for Koreans.
can come back and spend time with family.
- they usually wear traditional clothes on this occasion, you know,
Hanbook - the popular identity of Korean people.
- besides, on this occasion, they also have their own special food, if I
remember correctly they call it songpyeon in Korean
- wow, I feel you have great knowledge about this festival. You even
remember name of special food, I am not sure, I can’t do. What is it
called, I forgot again?
- Songpyeon
- Oh, Songpyeon, I remember, thank you.
4. Many people say that Vietnamese young people these days tend to be
more open and oriented towards K culture, what is your opinion?
- I completely agree with this point. In fact, the younger people I meet
from my friends to others I meet along the street, usually wear clothes
following the Korean style and they also listen to the music of this
country.
- Thereby, I think Korean culture will become a part of our life because
of its special customs, as well as modern culture. If have a chance, I
am sure, not only me, but also a lot of Vietnamese people want to go
to Korea oncce and experience their culture because of their beauty
and their tradition. This podcast today is going to end here and we
hope this topic can give some useful information for your life. See you
in the next week.
ENVIRONMENT
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to our podcast “ HANU PC”. My
name is Ha Thu- the host of this Program. Today, we have a guest –
Pham Thi Tuyen. We are going to discuss an environmental problem –
the mass in using plastic bags around the globe – a top topic recently all
over the world.
1. Do you often use plastic bags for storage or shopping?
- Yes, of cause, I often use plastic bags in some situations like
supermarkets or stores.
- In my view, Not only you but also many people, even me today
become an integral part of our daily life
2. Do you know how the use of too many plastic bags affects the
environment?
- As I know, using too many plastic bags can pollute the soil, air and
water environment.
- You know, lastic bags are difficult to decompose and costly to recycle.
Therefore, most plastic waste is either incinerated or buried in the
ground. That directly causes pollution of the air, soil and even
groundwater. Sometimes, people throw those plastic bags directly into
the river or sea, causing the river or sea to be polluted, which we often
use a word called "white pollution" to refer to them.
- yes, not only does it pollute the environment, it also has negative
effects on our health. We breathe polluted air, drink polluted water, in
the long run we will also get diseases, typically cancer.
3. Although using too much plastic bags has many negative impacts on
our environmet, why do people use so many plastic bags?
- I supposse first of all, because plastic bags are cheaper than other
bags, and they are also durable, plastic packaging is portable.
- Besides, they are so easy to produce with a large quantity.
4. What do you think we should do to reduce the amount of plastic bags
released into the environment?
- I think to begin with decline the bag we use everyday. We should
bring our reusable bags instead.
- Next is to recycle the plastic bags. I suggest, the goverment should
build more recycling plants.
- But the easiest way is that we should reuse those plastic bags, I mean
after each use, we can wash them for the next use.
- I totally agree with you. At home, I often reuse plastic bags many
times. I think it’s a good way for us to protect our environment before
“white pollution”.
Nowadays, the use of plastic bags and the discharge of plastic waste into the
environment is always a serious problem not only in our country but also in
the whole world. Understanding their impact on the environment will
partly help us be more aware of the use of plastic products, helping to
reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment.
HISTORY- VO NGUYEN GIAP
Welcome to our podcast- we are HISTORY – THE PAST- THE PRESENT
AND THE FUTURE. Today, we gonna talk about a distinguished Vietnamese
person, he is VO NGUYEN GIAP – a historical figure in Vietnam. And my
company today is Ha Thu- she is a student of Hanoi Uni- who is interested in
Vietnam history.
As you know, the Vietnamese people experienced nearly 1000 years in order to
prevent their national sovereignty and as a result, they gained independence
from the invaders in 1945. In these fights of Vietnamese history, they have a
number of historical figures who devoted their lives to protecting their country
from the invaders. The famous Vietnamese person we gonna talk about is VNG-
he is a captain of Vietnam’s army when having the war in this country and
become a general of the socialist republic of Vietnam after the war.
1, And Ha Thu, do u know VNG
- is the former general of Vietnam.
- was born in 1911 and died in 2013.
- play an important role in competing against foreign invaders.
- the first general of the Vietnam military.
2, He is so popular for a number of glorious victories in his career, which of his
historical highlight impress you the most? VIET BAC CAMPAIGN 1947
- Is the first huge historical highlight of Vietminh, beating the plan of
the France invaders.
- Main leader of Vietminh is VNG. He directly led the military, so
shooting 18 planes, 16 warships, 38 canoes were sunk, 255 vehicles of
different types were destroyed.
This victory remained the security of resistance headquarters and improved the
strength of the main army and defend the VietBac base.
3, As you know, VNG died on 4/10/2013, his death left pain and sorrow for
Vietnamese people and the population who love history in the world. In your
opinion, what are the reasons for other people to pay tribute and respect for
him? Talent, Kind, Devotion.
- First of all, he is a distinguished historical figure of Vietnam. He is a
visionary leader, with great leadership and he can seize the
opportunity to beat the drawback of opponents.
- Secondly, he is a patriot. He is willing to devote his youth and his life
to reclaiming Vietnam’s sovereignty.
And he wants to cultivate patriotism in the next generations through his books,
his literature, and the children’s names he gave them: Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, …
4, Apart from Vo Nguyen Giap, do u know other historical figures in Vietnam
and over the globe? HO CHI MINH- prominent leader and HITLER
- HCM is famous over the world and is the prominent leader of Vietnam.
He is the person who paved the way to gain independence of Vietnam
and established The socialist republic of Vietnam.
- In the other hand, Hitler was also popular in the world with his arbitrary
political policy. He was a dictator in Germany, was born in 1889, and
died in 1945.
Nowadays, the younger people live in a peaceful country, which was protected
by a number of Vietnamese people in the past, they devoted most of their lives
time and even sacrificed their lives to remain the sustainability of Vietnam.
Therefore, younger people these days need to be aware of our responsibility for
contributing and developing the country in many aspects: military, policy,
economy and culture, and education.
SCIENCE
As u know, science is a crucial part of our lives with a number of important
achievements which are being applied these days. Therefore, science is a core
subject at school and a lot of children want to be a scientist in the future to
analyze and find out new theories for the development of our life.
Today, we gonna talk about science with students, let’s see what is student
opinion about the importance and role of science in their life. And my company
is Ha Thu- a student of HANOI UNI – who studies social sciences – linguistics.
1, Did you have a science class in high school?
Yes, I have. They are so informative and I was keen on them.
2, What kinds of science classes did you study at school?
At my high school, I usually studied natural sciences with some subjects such as
Physics, chemistry, biology, and geology.
And now, I study English Department, it belongs to social sciences.
Apart from natural sciences and social sciences, formal sciences also become
popular with younger people these days, because afritical intelligences and
advanced computers are more important in our life.
3, some people believe that science could bring some positive effects on our
life. Are you agree with this point?
I strongly agree with this opinion that science plays a crucial role in our
lives. By studying and working out in this area, we can understand a lot of
theories, phenomena of different natural environments, and human beings.
For example, With natural sciences, we can know how the movement of the
moon, the earth, and some situations occur in daily life. With social
sciences, we can build a connection with each other by studying linguistics
and international relations. With formal sciences, we can optimize the
development of cognitive processes and characterize abstract structures
with symbolic systems.
4, Do you want to be a scientist who works out in science and our life, why?
Yes, of course. As you know, my major is the English department so after my
graduation, I want to devote my life to working out language studies in English
and other languages such as Chinese and Japanese.
You have a sweet dream, that’s great and I hope you can achieve this target. In
my view, becoming a scientist requires some strict qualifications and huge
knowledge of a particular subject so I would be afraid if I was required to
become a scientist.
Science with different aspects plays an important role in human life because it
helps us to learn about the world, natural situations, and social environments in
general. Therefore, studying science is necessary for students and all of the
population to boost the awareness of protecting the earth and living
environment.
