Scope
This document highlights all the key steps and teaches controllers to use the Virtual Automatic Terminal Information Service
(vATIS) client on the VATSIM Network.
This publication standardizes all these procedures within the India vACC.
Download and setup of vATIS.
(1) Click on “Import” (2) Click on a profile that you want to import. (3) Double click on the facility.
Click “Open” to import it into vATIS.
Profiles are available to you from the vACC.
(4) On your first time of using vATIS you will be asked to configure your client.
To do this click “Yes” on the displayed prompt. (This only happens on your first install or re-install.)
(7) Replace “XXX” with the appropriate Transition Level at the time of connection (Variable due to changes in barometric
pressure). This will remain during your next connection too. Make sure you change it accordingly.
Click on “Connect”. (You will have to connect to the VATSIM Network as a controller on the Euroscope client first.)
(8) Upon clicking on connect, your ATIS Connection will be connected live to the VATSIM Network. This however only
connects you to the Network with the ATIS showing up as plain text.
Click on TX ATIS to start the transmission broadcast of the ATIS info on the frequency.
(9) Upon clicking on TX ATIS, the ATIS goes live on the frequency. You can confirm it by looking at the TX Box near the FREQ
Section on the top left corner of the window; If the box lights up red/orange that indicates the ATIS is live. Do note in some
cases the ATIS takes time to broadcast so do not be alarmed.
(10) During your connection to the network, the ATIS Info changes based on weather conditions etc. You will be notified by
ping and a popup window.
Click on “Acknowledge” to proceed.
(11) To disconnect your ATIS connection from the network, simply click on the “disconnect” button on the bottom right
corner.
This Concludes the vATIS Tutorial Guide. If you have any questions or would like to learn
more please contact your mentor or your vACC Staff for assistance.
