International guidelines on People Centered Smart Cities
Key features:
Requests the Executive Director, subject to the availability of funding, to initiate the development of
international guidelines on people-centered smart cities as a non-binding framework
Requests the ED to ensure an inclusive consultative process including through the existing
regional and country offices of the UN-Habitat with MS and Members UN specialized agencies,
national and or international associations or organizations of local authorities recognized by the UN,
relevant UN organizations, international finance institutions, development agencies, non-governmental
organizations, academia, civil society organizations, the private sector and other relevant stakeholders
Is 22 months time-bound, with expected completion of the work in the resumed second session of the
UNHA2 in 2025.
Is supported by a large group of Member States part of the “Group of Friends of the Smart Cities”
which have actively worked on the preparation of the Resolution and are now on its implementation
France has pledged 311,000 USD Dollars, out of the 1,179,000 needed to roll out the work
