Design of a remote control

Good Design

Features of a good design:

 Sleek Design
 Light Weight
 Good arrangement of buttons (Not Messy)
 More sensitive buttons
 Length must be short
 Inexpensive (Due to high chances of breakage)
 Battery slot cover should not fall of frequently
 The remote should be one compact case rather than two pieces attached together

I will design a controller which is easily visible in cluttered environment. For that I am going
to add vibrant colours to the controller body. It should be comfortable to press buttons
using the same hand that is holding the control. It should be sturdy to not break or separate
parts from multiple falls on hard surfaces. Be inexpensive relatively to the price of the
components it should control.
Bad Design

Features of a bad design:

 Heavy/ centre of gravity distorted

 Simple arrangement without proper arrangement
 Durable button but hard to press
 Using of parts which are quite expensive in the market or not easily replaceable
 Battery slot cover is not tight enough
 The remote is not a compact body but parts attached with each other

Bad designs of a remote may be the one which is not design keeping in mind the use of a
controller other than remote control. Sometimes the bad design may be something which
irritates people after consecutive use.
