What position are you applying for and what company?

I apply for the position of bar waitress in a company called Oceania cruises.

What do you know about this company?

It’s an American company, based in Miami, Florida. They have 6 cruise ships and operate all
around the world. Oceania Cruises is owned by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. They
have a hiring partner which is The Apollo Group. The Apollo group is also a Hiring Partner
used by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Marella Cruises, and Virgin Voyages.

Describe your last job position

My previous position was an F&B Attendant on a Costa cruise ship. However, I have 3 years
experience as a bartender. I was working in a restaurant called Under Wonder.
I was helping guests choose menu items or guiding them through drink options;
I was mixing, garnishing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to
company specifications for guests at the bar and in the restaurant.
I was also keeping the bar stocked and clean while providing friendly and attentive service;

Why are you a great candidate for this role?

I have great memory skills and I feel this gives me the ability to remember complex drinks
orders while also managing multiple tasks to a high standard. I'm also great at remembering
customers' names, so I can offer a welcoming, personal service. I bring a fresh, positive and
passionate attitude to work and genuinely care about making the experience of the
customers as enjoyable as possible.

How would you deal with a difficult customer?

There are many different customers that come into the bar. A difficult customer might be
someone who is drunk or who is very eager to get their order. When there is a difficult
customer I try to not let it affect my mood or my interactions with other customers. I make
sure to help the difficult customer as best as I can and as quickly as possible. I make sure to
take their order down right away and regardless of their attitude, to remain calm and positive.

How would you deal with a drunk customer?

I would stay polite and would avoid value judgements. I would politely inform them that I will
not serve them any more alcohol. But if the customer becomes aggressive or continues to
demand more alcohol I would inform my supervisor about this situation.

What are the skills of a good bar waiter?

Being friendly, approachable, energetic, professional and welcoming to all guests.
