Part 2:
Describe a work of art that you like.
You should say:
● What the artwork is?
● Where and when you first saw it?
● Why you like it?
● How it makes you feel?
ANSWER:
I'd like to talk about a painting that I really like. It's called "Starry Night" and was
painted by Vincent van Gogh. I first saw it in an online book when I was in high
school, and later, I had the opportunity to see the painting at an exhibition in Hanoi.
I like this painting because it's incredibly vivid and full of emotion. The swirling
patterns of the stars and the moon in the night sky are mesmerizing. The village
below with its small houses and church adds a sense of serenity to the chaos above.
It's as if van Gogh was trying to capture the turbulence of his own mind on canvas.
When I look at it, I feel a sense of wonder and a connection with the artist's inner
turmoil. Van Gogh viewed his artistic painting as a spiritual pursuit. He wrote about
the wonderful paintings, that the artist hid an aspect of God in the painting. It's a
powerful piece of art that never fails to move me.

ANSWER: Art preferences do vary across cultures. Different cultures have their own
artistic traditions and forms of expression. For example, what is considered beautiful
or meaningful in Western art might be very different from what's valued in Asian or
African art. It's a reflection of the diversity of human expression.

3. Do you think art can be a form of self-expression? Why or why not?

ANSWER: Yes, art is a form of self-expression. Artists often use their work to convey
their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It allows them to communicate and
connect with others on a profound level.

TOPIC 5: EMAIL
Part 1:
1. Do you use emails?
ANSWER: Of course. I send and receive emails on a daily basis, especially for my
studies. Emails are a message exchange medium where I can get my point of view
across to my friends and lecturers.

2. What do most people in your country use email for?

ANSWER: In Vietnam, email is used for many purposes related to work and daily life.
For example, businesses and companies will respond immediately to customers'
questions and requests via email. Users in daily life consider it as a tool to send and
receive different types of attachments including photos, short videos, and files or
documents besides composing messages. Nowadays, a large number of netizens
choose to stay updated with the latest global news using their email accounts and
even use them to make online purchases.

3. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of email?

ANSWER: Since its inception, email has brought countless benefits to the world.
Sharing information is easier, faster and more convenient than ever. A single mouse
click gets a letter or electronic message with a seemingly endless number of words
and a series of attachments to its recipient in a matter of seconds, no matter where
that person appears. anywhere on earth. However, it also has many disadvantages
such as without a computer, smartphone, tablet or any other electronic device and
an accessible Internet connection, email is of no use at all. It can also become a
widespread source of computer viruses and disturbing spam.

4. When do you want to email others?

ANSWER: Usually I like to send while related to work. As I said, my company or
school's official means of communication is email, so I mostly only message someone
via email if it's related to work and study. Occasionally, when I sign up or want to
inquire about some program, course or product and I cannot contact the provider or
organizer via social media, I will have to contact them via email.

Part 2:
Describe an important email you have received.
You should say:
● Who sent it to you.
● When you got it.
● What was it about
And explain why this email was important to you.
ANSWER:
Well, I do not receive too many letters or emails as I generally communicate with my
near and dears using my mobile or other social media apps. But, I would like to take
this opportunity to talk about an email that I received almost two months ago from
my old school days friend. The fact is that I was just checking my emails on a regular
basis, and there I saw an email with the subject “your old school days friend.” I got
really surprised to see the subject, and I immediately clicked on that email, and I
opened it. To my surprise, this email was from my old school days friend Harpreet,
Who move to Canada with his family when we were studying together in 10th grade,
and after that, we were in touch with each other any more. So it was a delightful
moment for me to receive an email from an old friend. In this email, he wrote about
the things that he still remembers about his school days, especially our other friends
and the kind of mischievous we used to do together, so it was fascinating to see that
he still remembers everything. Also, in this email, he mentioned his life in Canada; he
mentioned that he is still continuing his studies in Canada, and along with that, he is
doing a part-time job as well. Lastly, he also mentioned a little about the Canadian
culture how many Vietnamese are living in Canada, and how life in Canada is
different than in Vietnam. Honestly speaking, before reading this email, I was quite
confused about my future and what I should be doing after completing my grade 12.
Overall, it was an email that helped me to get in touch with my friend whom I lost
years ago.

Part 3:
1. What kinds of emails do you receive that make you feel happy?
ANSWER: Hmm, I usually don't check email. If I check them at work or study, it's
important that I check them. Email me feeling happy, even excited, maybe a
scholarship or admission to the company or a successful project of the company.

2. What effects, if any, do you think the use of emails might have on traditional
culture?
ANSWER: The use of email can change the way we communicate, work and manage
information in traditional culture. This can be beneficial in saving time and resources,
but can also create challenges in terms of loss of individuality and privacy. To ensure
balance, it is important to understand and apply appropriate communication and
information management principles when using email in work or personal
communications.
3. How do you feel when you receive an email?
ANSWER: I will be very glad to receive an email, because it means that there is
someone who remembers me, and sends me something for greetings, or if they have
something to discuss with me, I am also pleased to reply to them.

4. Do you host emails? Why

ANSWER: No. I don't have the habit of keeping a lot of emails, I delete them every
month. I seem to have an uncomfortable feeling when I open an email and see many
emails in it.

5. How do you feel when you receive an email?

TOPIC 19: ENTERTAINMENT

Part 1:
1. Do you enjoy watching movies or TV shows? Why?
ANSWER: Yes, I enjoy watching movies and TV shows. They provide me with a great
source of entertainment and relaxation. It's a way for me to unwind after a busy day
and immerse myself in different storylines and characters.

2. What kind of movies do you like? Why?

ANSWER: I enjoy watching a variety of movies, but my favorite genre is action and
adventure. I find the fast-paced plots and thrilling action sequences quite engaging.
The mystery of the films combined with the often attractive action characters makes
the film charming.

3. How often do you go to the cinema?

ANSWER: I go to the cinema occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. It's a special
experience to watch a movie on the big screen with surround sound. However, I also
enjoy watching movies at home when I want a more relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

4. Do you prefer to watch movies alone or with friends? Why?

ANSWER: It depends on my mood, but I enjoy watching movies with friends. It's a
social activity that allows us to share our thoughts and reactions during and after the
movie. It's also a great way to bond and spend quality time together.

Part 2:
Describe a movie you found disappointing.
You should say:
● What is the movie?
● When you watched it?
● Who do you watch it with?
And explain why you felt disappointed.
ANSWER:
So, I want to talk about this movie that I recently watched, and I have to say, it left
me feeling quite disappointed. The movie in question was titled "Lost in the
Shadows." I watched it just last weekend when it was released in theaters. I went to
see it with a group of close friends, expecting it to be a thrilling and captivating
experience.
Unfortunately, the movie fell short of my expectations in several ways, leading to my
disappointment. Firstly, the storyline was incredibly weak and lacked coherence. It
seemed like the filmmakers were trying to include too many subplots and failed to
develop them effectively. As a result, the movie felt disjointed and confusing, making
it difficult to stay engaged.
Additionally, the character development was subpar. The main protagonist, who was
meant to be relatable and compelling, came across as shallow and uninteresting.
Their actions and decisions throughout the movie lacked depth and didn't evoke any
emotional connection. I found myself not caring about what happened to them,
which greatly impacted my overall viewing experience.
Moreover, the pacing of the film was off. It started off promisingly, but as the story
progressed, it became slow and dragged on unnecessarily. This contributed to a
sense of boredom and made it challenging to stay invested in the movie's outcome.
Lastly, the film's ending left a lot to be desired. It felt rushed and lacked a satisfying
resolution. Many plot points were left unresolved, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and
questioning the purpose of certain storylines.
Overall, the movie "Lost in the Shadows" disappointed me due to its weak storyline,
lackluster character development, poor pacing, and unsatisfying ending. Despite
watching it with a group of friends, we all felt let down by the film's execution and
the missed opportunities to create a captivating and engaging experience.

Part 3:
1. Do you believe in movie reviews?
ANSWER: Well, I take them with a grain of salt, you know? They can give you a
general idea about a movie, but at the end of the day, it's all subjective. What one
person loves, another might hate. So, I usually check out a mix of reviews, listen to
recommendations from friends, and trust my own gut feeling when deciding what
movies to watch.

2. What movies do people in your country like to watch?

ANSWER: In my country, people have quite diverse taste when it comes to movies.
We love a good mix of genres, from action-packed blockbusters to heartfelt dramas
and hilarious comedies. Of course, there's always a soft spot for local films that
capture our culture and tell stories that resonate with us. And hey, we're not afraid
to jump on the international movie bandwagon too. So, it's a melting pot of
preferences.

3. Are historical films popular in your country? Why?

ANSWER: Historical films, they do have their fanbase here. People enjoy getting a
glimpse into our rich history, the tales of our ancestors, and the events that shaped
our nation. It's like a way to connect with our roots and appreciate the struggles and
triumphs of those who came before us. In addition, historical films can be visually
stunning and transport us to a different era, which adds to the appeal.

4. Do you think films with famous actors or actresses are more popular?
ANSWER: Ah, the star power of famous actors and actresses. It's true, having big-
name stars in a movie can definitely pique people's interest. They bring their
charisma, talent, and fan following to the table, which can generate more buzz and
draw larger audiences. But hey, a film's success isn't solely dependent on the star
power. A compelling story, good direction, and overall quality matter too. So, while
famous actors and actresses can boost a film's popularity, it's not the only factor that
determines its success.
