“Culture is based on values, which we adapt, internalize and practice”

When we say “culture” it is something that the society practice, as we perceive and internalize.
In general, culture refers to one’s beliefs, practices, social and cultural preferences. Now let’s
define what is cultural values- it is the core principles and ideals upon which an entire
community exists and protect and rely upon for existence and harmonious relationship. Does
culture taught by school curriculum? Yes, of course! It is taught by our school curriculum
because it essential for students to know the bigger world, which culture has exists. We as a
future teacher should teach them how to practice such values, and open their mind in real-world,
inspite of their cultural differences, they are allow to share and experience what beauty the
culture has. In addition, in sharing their cultural differences they will adapt, practice and curious
to each other’s culture. And most importantly, as a future teacher we need to be concerned with
individual differences, on how people are actually exposed to, learn from, and are influenced by
the culture to which they are exposed; that is, individual differences. However, parents should
also teach their children at home on how they will practice the right values, attitudes as well as
behavior. Furthermore, educators should have the prior knowledge and awareness of potential
multicultural issues in educational situations; planning of class sessions, including the ways on
how the students are grouped for learning; your knowledge about the diverse backgrounds of
your students; and your decisions, opinions and behaviors during the process of teaching.

“Developing leadership within”

According to Maxwell, in his famous book “Developing leadership within you” he gave an
insight to the readers to become a great leader. “Leader must earn integrity, and assume the
responsibility and set the higher standards.” Leadership is the ability to obtain followers and
to influence people”. In his famous line. When talking about leadership, it is important to
understand that leadership is influence, it is the ability to influence other people and to obtain
followers. Once people understand that leadership is about having influence on others and about
having followers, they will also understand the importance of the word

“influence”. Everyone has influence on others, and depending on the situation or the group of
people, one could be an influencer or the influenced one. In other words, he sees that a great
leaderinfluence others in order to be a successful, a leader have priorities, and ultimately focus
on goals and accepting change. A leader has to providethe followers a clear vision of what is
expected for them. A teacher is a leader and the students are the followers. A teacher’s goal is to
motivate, instill the belief of the students, actively participate and contributes to organization and
value others. Some leaders worry that if they reveal their short-comings they will lose
credibility, but in reality, vulnerability builds trust and unity. So instead of a leader pointing to
their breakthroughs, they ought to direct people to the weaknesses and the hardships that have
led to their success.

Teacher has many roles in the classroom to be an effective teacher is to desired the abilities or
competencies which enable to develop the leadership with. Also, teacher’s role is to build the
characteristics of their students, such as developing classroom routines, positive language and
environment, partner learning, guidance, collaborative activities and many more. Schools and
teacher must educate themselves especially through teaching. It is essential when teachers
interact with students to become professional in making decisions and judgement however, based
on moral and social virtues. A good teacher cannot hide his/her personality to their students. In
other words, teachers are the one who have a good-characters that students will imitate.

Here are the examples of teacher’s leadership skills that needs to develop with:
1. Building Empathy for Students
The teacher's task is not only to build cognitive students, but more precisely to build
sense of empathy or concern among student. Showing positive attitudes can also foster
empathy for student’s affection. Given the definition of empathy- it involves
understanding another's feelings without having experience, empathy sets students up to
deepen relationships with their current classmates and people that they know outside of
school. Empathy strengthens school community. A child learn empathy by
communicating with the diverse group of students in the same classroom. The deeper the
relationship they have, the deeper the

understanding they will develop and it results to child’s potential to strengthen their
social skills and communication. As teachers, we must
equip our students to be the future leaders of our communities and beyond.

2. Become a Good Listener

It starts with being a pleasant teacher, before learning begins students must be happy with
their teachers. A teacher always listen to their students complains when students get
personal problems. When a student tells a problem the teacher advice a solution to
overcome. So that the students put trust to the teacher because he was able to be a good
listener. In gaining trust and respect from students, listening is essential in building
relationship with one another. In addition, effective conversations with students can help
identify the strengths and weaknesses and students
interests to properly utilized to instruct the lessons as well as to motivate, inspire and
challenge the students.

3. Build Awareness and Self-Confidence of the Students

Understanding awareness is building an awareness, students need to see our self-
discipline, strong work of ethic, character, self-confidence w/o arrogance, and passionate
to serve the desired needs, whatever it is. Remember that awareness is giving your
students assignments to provoked their opinions. If there is awareness there is
enthusiastic in learning. When they do their assignments, it means that they are aware in
their tasks.

4. Develop the Concept of Closeness in Relationship of Both Teachers and Students inside
the Classroom
As a leader, we must develop the concept of closeness among the students, both students
and teachers must interact more closely inside the classroom so that they can both create
a positive atmosphere. Teachers and students must be friends, also to their fellow
students and classmates and become friendly to each other. When having problems
students do not hesitate to tell their problems to their teachers because they trust their
teacher’s advice. In addition, the teacher is able to be an educator and a parent also.
When there is a closeness to parent there is also with

teacher. However, teacher is absolutely different from parent because parent is student’s
guidance while teacher is a leader who promote efficiency and efficacy in learning. In
terms of relationship, teacher spend almost of his/her time to their students to deliver the
instruction etc.
Moreover, if a student has something to ask, a teacher will respond to them and if they
have a problem to write about in a piece of paper to write their life story, they are
experiencing or the problem that occurs in student’s life, so that the teacher will know
about students individual stories or experiences. Through this, the teacher will be closer
to his/her students and try to find a solution and motivate students in times of difficulties.

5. Sharing about Future and Expectations of their Students Life

Leadership is a process of influencing others to understand about what needs to be done
and how we do it. Teacher is the most influential person we have, teachers are always the
one who motivates students to pursue their dreams. But it’s up to the child if he/she wants
to be a nurse or a doctor someday given this example, meaning to say, it is their decision
making to decide. And besides teacher trains and prepare our skills as the students,
related to relevant learning material in the classroom.
And soooo ooonnnn…..
Therefore, i conclude having these leadership skills inside the classroom is something that the
leader must have. Furthermore, through these leadership skills a teacher develops the desired
values in accordance with the roles and tasks as an educator in the class that is responsible for the
classroom learning environment and the formation of student character.

“Develop a momentum for change”

Think about what change is coming to your way, as a teacher you will be a part of
organization you belong, if you are in the respective organization of course you can do a lot of
work that needs to accomplish by sharing ideas and information, partnership with school
community involving-students, co-teachers, parents and organization, and not only that, you will
be a classroom teacher where you creating a momentum for change. When we say momentum,
you

take a moment with your students and organization, you build yourself into it. “Life gets harder
if you do not want a change” a quote from me, change is a process where you enlighten yourself
into something that you want to grow up with.
According to John Maxwell- Level 4: People Development- the goal of this level is to identify
and develop as many leaders as you can by investing in them and helping them grow. In other
words, when there are more leaders, more of the organization’s mission can be accomplished.
The people you choose to develop may show great potential for leadership, or they may be
diamonds in the rough, but the main idea is the same, when you invest in them, you can
reproduce yourself. The more you raise up new leaders, the more you will change the lives of
all members of the team. As a result, people will follow you because of what you’ve done for
them personally. So, to grow at the people development level, you need to make investing in
leaders a priority, and take intentional steps every day to help them grow. Do that consistently,
for long enough, and you may begin to reap the rewards of the next level.

In addition, being part of a change is not easy, each time there is a change in your professional or
personal life, you start on the lowest level and you have to work hard to climb those steps; each
step demands a level of commitment and sacrifice. Likewise, in an organization, during a change
time, great commitment is demanded from everyone, not just from leaders. When leaders or
followers don´t commit to the “change”, the influence begins to decrease. Leading change in an
organization might be difficult, but once leaders climb their levels of leadership, other people
will allow and assist them in making the needed changes. On the other hand, will resent the fact
that leaders are not at their same level and will respond negatively. To avoid this and insure that
leadership remains effective you must take influencers within the organization to the higher
levels.
