An invitation for international fellows to visit FILBo’s International
Business Fair and establish long-term, commercial relationships with
their Colombian peers, aiming to advertise local publishing production
abroad. Fellows are entrepreneurs with experience in and specialized
knowledge of the Spanish-language market.

International Business Fair

(18-19 April 2024, full day)
A strategic space for the buying and selling of books, editorial rights,
and translation, organized by Corferias and ProColombia. FILBo’s
strategy is to internationalize the Colombian publishing industry by
establishing commercial links between Colombian companies and
international investors.

Book Forums
(18-19 April 2024, morning)
A space for professional training, bringing together editors, agents,
distributors, booksellers, etc., as well as students and others involved
in the book production process who wish to become professionals.
With the support of the Chamber of Commerce in Bogotá, panels and
conferences will be held, welcoming experts on topics of interest to
the sector from Colombia and the rest of the world.
International Booksellers Meeting
(18-19 April 2024, morning)
An initiative for booksellers from Colombia and abroad to exchange
their experiences, in order to strengthen emerging, traditional and
regional bookshops. This event has been organized with the support
of the Colombian Association of Independent Bookshops (Asociación
Colombiana de Librerías Independientes, ACLI).

University Publishing Forum

(18-19 April 2024, afternoon)
With the support of the Colombian Association of University Publishers
(Asociación de Editoriales Universitarias de Colombia, ASEUC), this
forum brings together university publishers to reflect upon the
challenges and opportunities facing academic production in relation to
its evaluation, measurement, dissemination, and circulation, as well as to
share strategies, actions, and initiatives to help strengthen the sector.

International Librarians Meeting

(18-19 April 2024, morning)
A space for professionals from the country’s regional libraries and
from other international libraries, including those attending FILBo,
to socialize, add to their collections, share success stories, establish
networks, and address issues such as the development of collections,
library services and how to promote reading, etc.

Congress of Children’s and Young People’s

Literature (18-19 April 2024, afternoon)
This congress seeks to evaluate and highlight possible routes into
professionalization, recognize the achievements of its esteemed
authors and illustrators, review its outreach, and have discussions with
specialists in order to plan out new possibilities for the growth and
strengthening of the sector.
National Congress for Style Editors
(19 April 2024, full day)
Beyond linguistic and encyclopedic aspects, and management of IT
tools, editors are called upon to develop operational expertise and to
reflect upon non-sexist language and the limits of artificial intelligence.
This event has been organized in partnership with Red Correcta.

FILBo Launches
(22-25 April 2024, full day)
Strengthening publishing ventures through comprehensive training on
the relationships, challenges, and opportunities of the book production
process. The beneficiaries will have a commercial space the following
year at FILBo. This event has been organized in partnership with
the District Institution of Arts (Instituto Distrital de las Artes) and the
Chamber of Commerce in Bogotá.

I Read Independently
(22-27 April 2024, afternoon)
This slot is dedicated to reflecting on independent publishing in
Colombia, through the following themes: We are independent; We
are Colombia and Latin America; Translations; Editorial retrievals;
Illustrators and Children’s and Young People’s Literature and, finally, We
are what we publish.

Comic Professionals Forum

(23 April 2024, full day)
Entreviñetas and FILBo team up to create a space
for recognition, positioning, and advocacy for those involved
in the comic sector in Colombia.
International Copyright Law Seminar
(23-24 April 2024, morning)
An academic meeting that brings together national and international
copyright experts, who will address various topics related to trends,
case studies, business models and global economy. This event has been
organized by the National Copyright Directorate (Dirección Nacional
de Derecho de Autor).

FILBo Illustrates
(24-25, afternoon, 29-30 April 2024, morning)
Through master classes, professionals in the field of illustration will
have a space dedicated to the exploration of graphic language in its
different expressions and the reviewing of portfolios.

Literary and Editorial Translation Forum

(24 April 2024, full day)
In partnership with the Colombian Association of Translators,
Terminologists, and Interpreters (Asociación Colombiana de
Traductores, Terminólogos e Intérpretes, ACTTI), FILBo has organized a
forum dedicated to the analysis of themes, profiles, and careers related
to the process of translation. This event is aimed at translators, editors,
teachers, students, and anyone interested in the field of editorial and
literary translation.
