The healthcare system is changing with patients experiencing new health issues that

adversely affect their health outcomes while healthcare providers and healthcare facilities

experience immense pressure to increase the demand for healthcare services. There are

specific issues that can be changed to improve the performance of healthcare facilities, the

wellbeing of healthcare providers, and the health outcomes of the patients. There are multiple

issues, including nurse shortages, medical errors, the current Covid-19 pandemic, and

environmental hazards that increase the risk of falls for patients within the healthcare settings.

Therefore, some of the topics that can be addressed to improve health outcomes, facility

performance, and providers’ wellbeing include:

 The effectiveness of social distancing and using facemasks to prevent the

spread of coronavirus disease.

 The role of barcode-guided drug delivery in preventing medication errors.

 Implementing a fall prevention program in a clinical setting reduces the risk of

falls among hospitalized patients.

 Instituting nurse retention and recruitment measures to achieve desired nurse

staffing levels.

 Implementing a patent health education program to reduce the risk of type II

diabetes among people aged 40 years and above.

These are but a few topics that can be explored to improve specific areas of nursing

practice or address issues within the healthcare facility.
