Rakshabandhan

Rakshabandhan is also called the festival of Rakhi. “Raksha” means protection and “Bandhan”
means bound. It is a festival to enhance the mutual love that exists between family members. Along
with it, Raksha Bandhan’s celebration makes brothers and sisters realize their duties towards one
another.
Instructions:
1. The teacher will send the circular two days prior to the parents through diaries.
2. The teacher will inform the parents that their children need to attend in a traditional dress.
3. The teacher will decorate the classroom with flowers, a backdrop, balloons & colour streamers.
4. The teacher will help the children to make Rakhi and give it as a take away to home.
5. The teacher will close the celebration with a class party by sharing sweets with each other.
Guidelines to make the Rakhi
Materials: Satin ribbons, glitter sheets, glue and small colour paper superhero character cut-outs of
Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Captain America and so on.
Pre-preparation:
1. Cut satin ribbons of equal length as per the strength of the classroom.
2. Glitter sheets to be cut into small round shapes and punch two holes opposite to each other.
3. Print superhero characters of small size and cut it through the outline of the picture.
Steps to make the Rakhi:
1. Provide satin ribbons, round cut-outs of glitter sheet and superhero cut-outs to children.
2. Guide the children to stick the picture of superhero cut-outs on the round cut-outs of the glitter
sheet.
3. Guide the children to insert the satin ribbon through the holes in the round cut-outs of the glitter
sheet.
