Please do this BEFORE the live session

● Look at the criteria for lesson planning

● Prioritise three areas to work on with your lesson planning

● Decide an action point for each of them

1 Planning and Materials

1a state learning aims appropriate to the learners’ needs, age range and linguistic level

1b ordering activities so that they achieve lesson aims

1c select and/or adapt materials and/or activities / tasks suitable for the learners’ ages, linguistic level, needs
and the lesson aims

1d include an appropriate variety of activities, tasks, and interaction patterns

1e implement realistic timings for the stages of the lesson

1f analyse the target language aspects and/or sub skills in sufficient depth with age and level appropriate
examples

1g anticipate potential problems with language or sub skills and provide appropriate solutions

1h provide a class profile with sufficient information about their needs, goals and interests

Check if your main aim is

Criteria How

school/curriculum/syllabus
2. Learner centred: What topic
or context will they find
engaging? What level of
language will be achievable
and challenging?

Management 1
● Identify three personal aims

● State why are they important in principled ELT

● Provide a strategy to help you with this personal aim

Personal Aims Why Strategy

I plan to/I need to work on This is because I will do this by

● Compare your personal aims

● Give each feedback based on

⮚ clarity of the personal aims

⮚ importance of the personal aims

⮚ awareness of why this is principled ELT

⮚ clarity and do ableness of the strategy
