Contemporary Challenges and Emerging Philosophical Paradigms in Education

It is an undeniable fact that the educational system of today faces modern

challenges and problems which we may find very hard to address using traditional

solutions. There are countless issues but I will be highlighting the most evident concern,

that is the challenges to education in the digital era.

With the advent of technology, the 21st century education demands a holistic

transformation of education. One of the biggest concerns that I have encountered is the

obsessive digital reliance of the students. As the technology advances, the more

advanced the artificial intelligence has become. An example is the creation of CHAT

GPT, and AI that is capable of providing any information that you want. The students no

longer make efforts in answering essays, written assignments, and even thesis. They do

not make efforts in consolidating ideas through researches to come up with their own

idea and knowledge. They simple input the problem into the AI and the AI provides the

solution. Although it is very convenient for the students, and it has obviously lessen their

burden, I still think that it brings them more bad than good things. They no longer

practice their critical thinking skills, they no longer have the ability to even come up with

their own answer. Learning has not been actualized.

As teachers it is our duty to make use of all traditional resources and approaches

such as the different philosophical foundations and incorporate these to modern tools

such as technology to work against the digital problems. We are no longer required to

follow the techniques that we are used to. These modern concerns require modern

solutions.
