A lifelong adventure: How to guide children on the journey to living out their

vocations in the world. 2021, by Susan Salaz

Ebscohost

Abstract:
Therefore, the tailor-made vocation God calls you to "will be a perfect fit", explains
Pope Francis in Christus Vivit. "I think any opportunity for service learning is
crucial for students forming a sense of vocation", Libunao-Macalintal says,
explaining that committing to serve others can help broaden our own
understanding of vocations and see more clearly the path God is calling us on.

Personal Reflection:
The article explores the concept of vocation in Catholicism and how parents and
caretakers can help children discover and discern their unique paths. It emphasizes
that life is a vocation, a call from God to love and serve others, and that vocations
come in different forms, including primary vocations like marriage and the
priesthood and secondary vocations related to one's career and community. The
passage also suggests that parents can nurture children's interests and imagination
from a young age to help them discover their calling. It advises that encounters with
Christ, prayer, and service can be meaningful ways to begin nurturing vocations,
while respecting the ages and maturity of young people. Ultimately, the passage
encourages finding joy in the journey of discovering and living out one's vocation,
trusting that God will guide each person on their unique path.
