Custom Certified Reference Materials

ORE Research & Exploration Pty Ltd (ORE) is a leading producer of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs)
and has been servicing the global metalliferous mining industry since 1988 with over 1400 CRM
customers in 120 countries. Our clients include all major international mining houses (BHP Billiton, Vale,
Anglo American, Rio Tinto, Glencore, Newmont, Barrick, Freeport, Gold Fields, Gold Corp, MMG,
Newcrest, Harmony, etc.) and the major commercial laboratory groups (e.g. ALS, SGS, Bureau Veritas
and Intertek). The foundation of our success is built on a strong record of industry-leading innovation, a
high level of repeat business from our many loyal clients and word-of-mouth commendation within the
global mining community.

We are accredited to ISO 9001:2015 for our Quality Management System including development,
manufacturing, certification and supply of CRMs. We adhere to and in many instances exceed the
recommendations in ISO Guides 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 3207 and 5725 in the manufacture and
certification of mining industry CRMs.

Advantages of using ORE to develop matrix-matched (custom) CRMs

 Dedicated industrial-scale drying, crushing, milling, screening and rotary splitting equipment allows
us to prepare custom CRMs from a diverse range of sample types and sizes including: pulp residues,
coarse rejects, drill samples (surface or underground cuttings and core), lump-size (up to 150mm) in
batch sizes from 5 to 6000kg.

 Large-scale, high throughput equipment and automated packaging lines facilitate efficient
turnaround and dispatch of CRMs usually 8 to 10 weeks from sample receipt, with Certificates and
(Excel) Datapacks following 4 to 6 weeks afterwards.

 Various size (30 to 2300L) blending machines permit optimal homogenisation and facilitate tailoring
of CRM ore grades as required by combining ores with barren materials. Pigeon Pairs (or offset
CRMs) can be developed if required.

 ORE has access to a variety of barren lithological materials (e.g. basalt, greenstone, granodiorite,
rhyodacite, limestone, etc) that can be used as a suitable blending matrix ingredient to achieve
required offsets. This often negates the need for clients to supply waste rock from their mine and
thereby reduces bulk sample freight costs.

 For larger batches (>200kg), Custom CRMs can be less expensive on a per unit cost basis than their
off-the-shelf equivalents, owing to economies of scale and the reduction in fixed costs as a
proportion of total costs. Large batch size ensures continuity of high quality CRM supply over
several years.

 Access to a network of world-class mineral laboratories enables ORE to produce CRMs suited to
your analytical method specifications for each analyte requiring certification.

 Complete multi-element ICP-OES/MS suite certification is available through our state of the art,
CRM-specific LIMS.

 Guaranteed homogeneity of all ores types (including nugget-rich gold ores) enables users to have
absolute confidence in their QC monitoring. ORE is the only producer to show gold homogeneity
proven by INAA on 1g subsamples. These data show RSD’s < 1% when scaled to a nominal 30g
charge weight. This premium level of homogeneity assures the user that errors seen in analytical
data are due to the assaying methodology, not a sampling error of the CRM.

 Packaging capabilities include single-use packaging into custom labelled or unlabelled laminated foil
pouches. Single-use units (from 5g to 250g) eliminate the inconvenience of additional handling and
associated risk of contamination during subsampling. For reactive materials (e.g. sulphide-bearing
ores) packaging under nitrogen will ensure long term (>10 years) CRM stability.

 Other packaging options include: 500g to 2.5kg in wide mouth plastic jars, 1 to 10kg units in vacuum
sealed plastic barrier (re-fill) bags and bulk chip CRMs (up to 200kg) in steel drums.

 Comprehensive and traceable Certificates of Analysis with complete laboratory round robin data
and summary statistics provided in Excel spread sheets to permit easy upload of analyte certified
values and accompanying statistics into corporate databases.

 Technical support and advice in preparation and certification of CRMs by knowledgeable mineral
resource geologists; three full time geologists, each with over 15 years’ experience.

 All custom CRM details are kept strictly confidential. In certain instances, where budgets are
limited, Custom CRMs may be developed jointly (JV) between ORE and clients. This has proven a
mutually beneficial arrangement on numerous occasions for junior, mid-tier and major mining
companies alike.

 For some certification programs involving metallic concentrates, a discount on round robin assay
costs is possible if some laboratories agree to collaborate, free-of-charge in return for small
quantities of the CRM and the results from all laboratories reported anonymously.
