Canadian Tire is providing a one-day training session for its retail

employees on the topic of customer service at one of its Toronto

stores. Review the various methods of needs analysis presented in

the chapter. Discuss which methods would be best to conduct each of

the following analyses:

a) Organizational analysis

b) Task analysis

c) Person analysis

Answer:

a) Organizational analysis

The process of evaluating an entity's growth, staff, operations, and

workplace environment is known as organizational analysis. An

organizational analysis is necessary because it allows management

to figure out weakness area and then find the solutions to solve the

issues.

SWOT Model

The SWOT model allows you to go forward by defining a goal and

recognizing your strengths and weaknesses. However, that the

company possesses and the possibilities and dangers that it may

face in the future. The SWOT model can be used to find the good

time and location for a company's next training release. Neither is it

for deciding the next target market—even a new training program

based on the workers' present circumstances and goals.

b) Task analysis

The practice of understanding regular users by observing them in

action to know how they accomplish their activities and meet their

goals in detail is known as task analysis.

Task Analysis in a Hierarchical Structure

This is the strategy used in the main task analyses. The steps are

listed in the order in which they are completed.

c) Person analysis

The technique of evaluating employee behavior to assess whether or

not productivity fulfills requirements is known as person, worker, or

individual analysis. It looks at how successfully an employee

executes essential duties and their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Observation

Employees can be observed performing their jobs in their work

surroundings. Observers can keep a close eye on the employee's

abilities and attitudes and their overall performance. The observer is

better equipped to resolve where training gaps occur and areas

where the greater emphasis should be made while conducting and

constructing training programs by determining where individuals

thrive and where they are weak. The observer should not interfere

with the employees' routine activities to ensure realistic observations.
