Topic: Education in the era of social media

Education is as essential as breathing for an individual life. In this age of globalization,

Social media emerged as a seed sprouting into a plant. It has a great impact on the

educational life of students nowadays. It is as important as the foundation of a house in

the life of students as it makes study easier and students just get their desired work in the

blink of an eye, which enables them to learn things easily and quickly.

The use of social media is a newsstand for every student and even teachers to learn

things more effectively and efficiently. Everything is at hand (phrase) and students

fulfill their desired goals more easily. It makes learning easy that's why students and

teachers consider it a great weapon to unlock the door of learning.

The Internet, as a whole is like a water cooler due to its vast information and resources.

People living in different countries easily get information about other countries and about

the research conducted due to the internet.

Using social media for an educational purpose has many more advantages, it increases

student engagement, and they learn more actively, as it has a heap of information.

Moreover, social media has a very positive impact on English language learners to learn

English more effectively they learn language skills, grammar, pronunciation, and

spelling, their reading skills, writing, and speaking skills are polished and it also helps in

making their thinking more creative and critical.

Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc. are the platforms where students find a bundle of

information that helps them in learning. YouTube is full of amazing channels related to

education according to the needs of the students where students find informative videos
that help them in their learning. Twitter acts as a great torrent in which there is a flood

of information on every topic and the related news and researched reports are there to

engage its users with the world.

Many students in these busy days find blogging and making useful educational channels

and pages boosting their confidence and self-esteem. All these opportunities that social

media provides them will make them more independent and empowered to share their

thoughts and spread their ideas to the whole world. All these positive aspects of social

media towards education make it a huge deal in the field of education.

Along With its vast advantages, it has some negative impacts also on education. The

most dominating factor that comes under its negative impact is its distraction. The

notifications and the constant urge to check those notifications distract the students from

their task and ultimately they will not do any productive work in a given time.

Furthermore, the spread of Wrong information on different channels and social media

platforms can distract the students and they believe in that news without examining the

news. Another negative impact of social media is that the people who mirror their

achievements and goals can lead to a feeling of failure and self-doubt for other students.

In a nutshell, social media paints a picture having colored and dark sides, it is up to the

users how they perceive the picture. If they use it positively then it will open a door of

success and learning.
