8. A SUPRISING EVENT
 The teacher of King Suddhodana is sage Asitha.
 Sage Asitha visited the palace to see the baby
prince.
 Once sage Asitha held the baby, baby’s feet touched
sage Asita’s forhead.
 Sage Asitha said that the prince will become a great
teacher or a great king in this world.
 He put his palms together and paid respect to the
prince.

 King Suddhodana saw this incident, and he also paid


respect to the prince.
 This was the first salutation of the king to the baby
prince.
