Notes when studying

 Find the time when your brain is at its peak. Kelan kapag nagbasa ka, gets mo agad.
 Drink water, lots of water. Eat brain food from time to time like nuts, chocolates, and bananas.
 Record your progress especially sa review.
 Don’t forget to compliment yourself!
 Don’t be afraid to criticize yourself. Compete with yourself.
 Don’t be shy if youre going to ask for help. We’re a small community. We ought to give help and be helped.
 It may sound cheesy but.. if cannot everyday, at least at times.. pray
 Kapoy is normal. Pero wag isagad
 Provide rest day.
 BEFRIEND YOUR CALCU. Alamin yung mga pindutan para mas mabilis magcompute. Practice not looking at the
calcu when you’re reading
 If you feel na it’s hard, always remember na there’s no easy way. :”>
 Read tips from passers on how to study effectively.
 A study habit that works on a subject will not guarantee na it will work sa other subjects..
 Know the appropriate POV per subject. Each subject has its own views. You can’t view it all the same.

Intermediate Accounting  Straight to the point
Author: Valix  May deficiencies but substantially sufficient naman.
 Maganda sya for practice rin, wala lang testbanks. Meron
sa internet kaso ang hassle hanapin.
 Updated year unnecessary. Mahal kapag bagong version,
wala naman halos amendments.
Intermediate Accounting  SUMMARY BOOK
Author: Robles  Fast-paced, and very thin book.
 Useful for general-overview-type of reading
FAR books – REO  Recommended by others, not personally owned so I
cannot really give an opinion.
 Medyo costly
Practice
Practical Accounting  BEST PRACTICE BOOK
Author: Valix  Very recommended by passers.
**2 parts. PA1 for IA1 and some topics of IA3; PA2  Concise yung solutions.
for Liabilities and Equity.  Nakakabitin minsan hahahhah
 Purely problem-solving
Financial Accounting and Reporting Reviewer  Don’t use this as the first practice book
Author: Villaluz  More difficult than Valix but Maganda sya as in
Theory of Accounts  FOR THEORIES ONLY
Author: Valix
Preferred Way of Study

 Note the concept

 Always think “standard to. Ginawa to ng tao. Bakit ganito?”
 Learn how to distinct the different models from each other. Don’t memorize. Alamin ang bottomline
 Nakaka-overwhelm so KNOW THE BOTTOMLINE
o Definition (know it by heart. Cheesy I know pero huehue)
o Redundant lang almost
 Initial Recognition > Subsequent Measurement > Disclosures
o There are times na ang technical ng words pero if you ask others, madali sya i-apply like PV. May mga ordinary
annuity, annuity of 1, and advance.
 Technique:
 Learn the formula ng PVo1. 1.effective rate (press divide twice) (press equal depending
kung ilang period)
o If lump-sum, then that is where you will multiply the amount
 Notice: simula nito 0.
o If installment, press GT or grand total (MAKE SURE NA WALANG NAKAEQUALS PRIOR
SA PAGKUHA NG PV).
 Notice: simula nito whole number
o If the first INSTALLMENT was paid on that date, in addition sa installment, multiply it
by 1.effecive rate

Practical Accounting 1 and 2  Madaldal but he explains concepts and the “why”s rather than
Author: Guerrero plainly explaining the solution.
 Best AUTHOR for me if AFAR
 Problems.. can’t vouch.
Cost Accounting  Same with the first one.
Author: Guerrero
Business Combinations  Fast-paced
Author: Binaluyo  Focuses on board exam questions, particularly sa theories
 More on formula sya not concept.
 Has better presentation of formulas than Guerrero at times
Practice
AFAR Reviewer  BEST PRACTICE BOOK
Author: Dayag  Very recommended by passers.
 Concise yung solutions.
 To sawa ang questions nya TvT
 Best as first-hand review book
 Mahirap sa simula but his questions are designed from easiest
to hardest
 Note: don’t be overwhelmed if I said that it’s easy. Laging
mahirap sa una, but magagamay rin sa pagtagal
 Has explanations at times
 MAY THEORIES RIN!
AFAR Reviewer  Don’t use this as the first practice book
Author: De Jesus  More difficult than Dayag but Maganda sya as in
 His questions are designed to better enhance grammar
(pansin ko lang)
 Kakaiba yung wordings and construction unlike Dayag but he
sets the bar of difficulty very high.

Preferred Way of study

 Know the “WHY” not only the HOW IT IS COMPUTED

 PRACTICE SO MUCH. It will pay-off. Promise!
 If nagkamali, know why you were wrong, why you did it like that, and remember what you did was wrong. Para
pagdating sa exam “ay wait hindi to ganto mali to…” after that know the correct way.

masakit mga explanation because “A is correct, but
nothing beats B as the better choice”

Preferred Way of study

 For short-term memory peeps

Jot down notes. Yes hassle and time-consuming but trust me, long term mo sya maaalala. Not the
o
photographic memory kind.. idk but it works. A classmate can vouch
 Mainipin gusto straight to the point
o Read the summary first to know the overview. Try grasping the “nasaang part na ako ng aud? Bakit ko to
ginagawa as of now?”
o If okay na, read the detailed one and find “bakit ganito yung standard?”
 Don’t take down notes while reading. Read and highlight muna, get the thought and rationale, then take down
notes.
