III. APPLICATION/ACTIVITY

Activity 1: UN me

An important part of the promotion of global collaboration in the areas of education, research, culture, and communication is
played by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). With a focus on cultivating cultural diversity,
protecting cultural assets, and increasing access to high-quality education globally, UNESCO's work is characterized by its dedication
to furthering the building of peace, reducing poverty, and fostering sustainable development.

The mission of UNESCO, which was established in the Philippines during World War II, is to stop future wars through science,
culture, and education. The Philippines, a founding member of the United Nations, signed the founding charter of UNESCO in 1946. In
the Philippines, UNESCO's goals include strengthening the educational system, raising literacy rates, and encouraging inclusive
learning. Additionally, they encourage cultural preservation, fight climate change, and fund scientific research. Additionally, UNESCO
supports media expansion, information access, and freedom of expression. However, the organization encounters difficulties like
limited funding, a variety of cultural and language environments, environmental problems, and fair access to high-quality education,
particularly in isolated and underserved places.

In conclusion, UNESCO's involvement in the Philippines is characterized by its dedication to facilitating communication and
information access, supporting scientific research, safeguarding cultural heritage, and enhancing education. Despite several obstacles,
the organization's cooperative efforts with the Philippine government and civil society are crucial in fostering sustainability, growth, and
peace in the nation. The Philippines and UNESCO continue to work together because of their shared commitment to achieving the
Sustainable Development Goals and creating a society that is more diverse and rich in culture.

Activity 2: Anong role mo??????

Question: What role does the UN play in crises such as the

recent surge in violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza?

With a focus on providing humanitarian assistance, maintaining peace and security in the area, and peacekeeping in the
Gaza-Israel conflict, the UN has played a significant role. The UN upholds international humanitarian law and negotiates agreements to
deliver relief to civilians. Additionally, it makes use of its Charter to mediate and settle disputes in order to lower tensions and avert war.
The UN Secretary-General has the power to mediate accords, and because of its special position in the world, it is able to arrange
cease-fires, peace agreements, and humanitarian passageways. The UN is aggressively working to deescalate the situation, bring aid
to Gaza, and lessen the level of violence. UNIFIL and UNDOF, two UN peacekeeping missions, maintain an eye on cease-fire
agreements and uphold stability. The UN Security Council and General Assembly may also take collective steps to address the
situation, including negotiations and force authorization under certain circumstances.
