MAHATMA GANDHI”
Freedom movements of India

India independence from the british raj can be said to be

the most significant movement for us to know about
this struggle and learn our lessons to what forms the
basis of our country and even our constitution.

We all know the father of our nation and the leader of

the Indian struggle for independence was mahatma
Gandhi .it was his resilience and undeniable support bof
the masses he enjoyed that really made an impact in this
struggle. He had a unique non violent way to protest the
british that was very effective.

Non cooperation movement

‫ ܀‬Civil disobedience movement

‫ ܀‬Quit india movement

NON COOPERATIONTION MOVEMENT:

It started on 1st august 1920 by mahatma Gandhi.it was

meant to be largest civil disobidence movements of the
time .people were enaged to give up their titles and
boycotting government elections,schools,collages, etc.
the public also stayed away from participating in
elections.
The Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 was the
first satyagraha movement led by Mahatma Gandhi in British
India and is considered a historically important rebellion in the Indian
independence movement. It was a farmer's uprising that took place
in Champaran district of Bihar in the Indian subcontinent, during
the British colonial period. The farmers were protesting against
having to grow indigo with barely any payment for it
CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MOVEMENT

Civil Disobedience Movement was a milestone movement in the

Indian Nationalist Movement. It is associated with paving the trail for
freedom in India as it got circulated to urban areas and noticed the
participation of women and individuals from the lower castes. The
movement was initiated under the stewardship of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Civil Disobedience Movement was founded in 1930, and it began
with the prominent Dandi March when Mahatma Gandhi left the
Sabarmati Ashram of Ahmedabad on foot.

The Salt Satyagraha led to the widespread endorsement of the

disobedience movement. The Civil Disobedience Movement was
established after the compliance of Independence Day in 1930
QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT

The Quit India Movement, also known as the Bharat

Chhodo Andolan, was a movement launched at the
Bombay session of the All India Congress
Committee by Mahatma Gandhi on 9 August 1942,
during World War II, demanding an end to British rule
in India.
After the British failed to secure Indian support for the
British war effort with Cripps Mission, Gandhi made a
call to Do or Die in his Quit India speech delivered in
Bombay on 9 August 1942 at the Gowalia Tank
Maidan. Viceroy Linlithgow remarked the movement to
be "by far the most serious rebellion since 1857 The

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Gandhi's autobiography is very different from other

autobiographies. The autobiographies normally contain
self-praise by the authors. They want to criticize their
opponents and boost their own image in the people's
eyes. Gandhi's autobiography is completely free from
all this. It is marked with humility and truthfulness. He
had not hidden anything. In fact, he is rather too harsh
on himself. He did not want to show to the world how
good he was. He only wanted to tell the people the story
of his experiments with Truth, for Gandhi, was the
supreme principle, which includes many other
principles. Realization of the Truth is the purpose of
human life.
