Qatar Airways – Recruitment for Type Rated FO / Captain

- This document was prepared in December 2021 and describes the recruitment process at that time.

1 – Online Psychometric Assessment

- After your application is accepted, you will receive an e-mail. You can access the psychometric test via the link
there.
- Note: A different test was administered by "Test Partnership" in 2019 and earlier.
- As of 2021, it is being done by "Propel International".
- The psychometric assessment consists of 2 tests:

1) Personality Questionnaire (Propel)

- A questionnaire that determines the preferences and attitudes that influence behavior at work.
- Consists of 200 questions.

2) Cognitive Reasoning (Symbiotics)

- 36 questions – 30 min
- Multiple choice exam
- There are 6 sections:

 Numerical Reasoning (6 Qs)

 Verbal Reasoning (6 Qs)
 Spatial and Relationship Reasoning (6 Qs)
 Abstract Reasoning (4-6 Qs)
 Perceptual Speed and Accuracy (6 Qs)
 Working Memory (6 Qs)

- In the Working memory section, you see a figure or listen to an audio for 5 seconds and then you are asked
to remember what you saw or listened.
- There is no countdown in the other sections, but your reaction time is recorded in those questions also.
Especially in the "Perceptual Speed and Accuracy" section, your reaction time has a coefficient and it affects
the score you get from that section.
- You can flag the questions by the flag icon next to them and go back to view/change your answer. (except
for one section!)
- You can't just change your answers in "Perceptual Speed and Accuracy", because both your speed and
accuracy are taken into account in that section.
- For these important information, I recommend that you read the Instructions part carefully before the test.

- To practice the question types in the real test, you can enter the Qatar Airways / Cognitive Reasoning section
on www.atpl.tv and create a 10-question demo test.
- Our question bank consists of approximately 250 questions as of December 2021, and we continue to add
new questions as we receive feedback from our users who attend the psychometric test.
- The texts/numbers of questions in the real test may be a little different but they will be of similar type.

2 – Online Interview

- A Phone or Skype Inteview around 10 minutes.

- The questions are basically about your resume and career plans.
- It would be very useful to do a preliminary research on Qatar Airways and the living conditions in Qatar.

Sample Questions:

1. Tell me about yourself and your career

2. Why do you want to leave your current company?
3. Why Qatar?
4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
5. What’s your most memorable flight?
6. How do you feel about moving to Doha?
7. What do you know about Middle East?
8. Does your family support you?
9. What’s your latest achievement?
10. Do you agree to live in Doha?
11. Do you have any questions?

3 – ATPL Knowledge Exam

- If you successfully pass the psychometric test and online interview, you are invited to Doha and take the
ATPL Knowledge exam there.
- 50 random questions from 14 ATPL subjects.
- Usually selected from the JAA/EASA question bank.
- The text of some questions in the real exam may be different, but they can be solved with basic ATPL
knowledge.
- There are also numerical questions, but we haven’t heard any questions with ‘annex’.

- The question bank on www.atpl.tv currently consists of 350 questions approximately.

- We don't want to add a lot of unnecessary questions and inflate our question bank. We are updating as we
get new feedback on the questions that actually appeared in the exam.
- You can enter the Qatar Airways / ATPL Knowldge section on ATPL TV and create a 10-question demo test.

4 – Group Assessment

1) Group Exercise

- Perform a task according to the given instructions. (build the tallest tower etc.)

2) Group interview

- They ask a question and expect you to make a decision after taking everybody’s opinion.

Sample Questions:

 What items would the group save from a burning house, and in what order?
 Does flight crew over rely on the auto-pilot?
 What is the most important instrument in the cockpit?
 Would you want flight attendants to learn how to land the airplane?
 You have crashed on the moon and know you have to list 20 items in order of importance.

5 – Interview

- Accompanied by 2 Captains.
- Questions may arise on your basic ATPL knowledge, past experience and current aircraft type.
