Lathe Duplicator Stylus

This gizmo will make it easier to duplicate things on almost any lathe. Candle holders, pens, table legs and more
will be easy to duplicate. To make a pattern, just draw the part in a drawing program or photograph it, print it
out, check the size, and paste the printout on the board with a few drops of rubber cement. Asian metal lathes
usually have a convenient flat top on them but other tailstocks can be made to work with a board and C clamp.

The first one I built was just a welding rod clamped to the tool post and bent down at 90 degrees for about an
inch at the end and ground to a point. The 5/16 " all-thread rod shown here is available at any hardware store
and makes the device easy to adjust.

When learning how to use it, wooden dowel (broom-handle) can be used to save more precious material.
