MODULE 6

Reporting Findings,
Drawing Conclusions &
Making Recommendations
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the module, learners should be able to:

 summarize key concepts and significant findings; and
 formulate well-grounded conclusions and recommendations
SUMMARY

• Summary is a condensed form of the results and findings.

• The first paragraph should briefly state what the study is about, the
objectives, the significance of the study, and the limitations
encountered during the study.
• Then, the next one to two paragraphs should briefly describe the
methods and results, highlighting the most significant findings.
CONCLUSIONS
• This section addresses the implications of the study. It should help
the readers understand how the components of the study fit
together and what new ideas can be inferred from the study as a
whole.
• It should also shed light on the problem being addressed. If the
study includes a hypothesis, this is where the researcher concludes
whether the study supports or refutes the hypothesis.
• It is important to anchor the conclusions on principles mentioned
previously in the study to make them well-grounded and not just
based on personal opinions. Note that the conclusion
should not introduce new data or arguments.
RECOMMENDATIONS

• This section contains the future directions of the study or proposes

new concepts for future study.
• It should state what still needs to be done by posing new or
lingering questions. It may also include suggestions on how the
limitations of the current study can be addressed by future
researchers.
APPENDICES
• This section contains supplementary materials that are not essential
to the research body but might be helpful in giving a more
comprehensive understanding to the research.
• The following are some materials that may be included in the
appendices:
 questionnaire
 letter of consent
 interview transcripts
 letter of intent
 raw data
 computations
