1. Who was Daedalus? What was his profession?
Ans: Daedalus was a clever inventor and he was a skillful architect by
profession.
2. Why did Daedalus travel to Crete?
Ans: Daedalus travelled to Crete because king Minos wanted to meet him.
3. What did king Minos order Daedalus to do? Why?
Ans: King Minos ordered Daedalus to build a maze because he wanted to
imprison A fearful monster Called Minotaur.
4. Why was it difficult for Daedalus and Icarus to escape from the tower?
Ans: It was difficult for Daedalus and Icarus to escape from the tower because it
was surrounded by the sea.
5. Describe what Daedalus did to escape from the tower?
Ans: Daedalus made a beautiful pair of wings by laying a row of long feathers.
Then he laid a row of small feathers. He then sewed them together with linen
thread and a needle. Finally, he softened some beeswax and fastened the row of
feathers together with the wax. Daedalus tied the wings to his arms and
shoulders with thin strips of leather, Then he fluttered his wings. As the wings
moved , he could feel himself lifting from the roof of the tower.
6. How dis Icarus feel when he flew for the first time?
Ans: Icarus was overjoyed. He merrily circled around the tower and even did a
somersault in the air.
7. What instructions did Daedalus give Icarus about flying?
Ans: The instructions that Daedalus gave were don’t fly too low, too close to
the waves , his feathers will get wet. Then his wings will be too heavy to fly.
And if he fly too high , the heat of the sun will melt the wax that holds his wings
together.
8. Why did Icarus meet a sad end? What lesson do we learn from the story?
Ans: Icarus met a sad end because he did not listened to his father’s advise. The
lesson we learn from the story is we should obey our elders and listened to the
properly.

the secret of the labyrinth and he might tell somebody how to find the way

Ans: Daedalus said this to his son Icarus.

Ans: The speaker said this because they have just learnt how to fly and there
were still many techniques to be learnt.

Ans: The speaker reminded his son because he was over excited when he first
