marks and 2 Questions of 5 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in
the 2 marks questions of Section E.

27. Solve 2x + 3y = 11 and 2x – 4y = – 24 and hence find the valueof ‘m’ for which y = mx + 3.

The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 12. The number obtained by interchanging

28. A shopkeeper buys a number of books for <80. If he had bought 4 more books for the same
amount, each book would have cost <1 less. How many books did he buy ?

34. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower ob-
serves a car at an angle of depression of 30°,which is approaching the foot of the tower with a
uniform speed. Six seconds later,the angle of depression of the car is found to be 60°. Find the
time taken by the car to reach the foot of the tower from this point.

The angle of elevation of the top of a building from the foot of the tower is 30° and the angle
of elevation of the top of the tower from the foot of the building is 60°. If the tower is 60 m
high, find the height of the building.
35. A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone of same radius.
The height of the cone is 10 cm and the radius of the base is 7 cm. Determine the volume of the
