REFLECTION JOURNAL

From the beginning to the completion of the course, studying maternal and child health
nursing was an amazing experience. This training went above and beyond my expectations in
helping me understand the value of a mother-child link, how children develop and behave, and
what kind of nutrition is best for both mother and child to attain general health. I had gained
knowledge both in school-based and exposure in the hospital. I was given the opportunity to
apply the lessons I had learned in the classroom to a real-world scenario. I was able to apply the
knowledge I had gained from the preliminary exams to the sample simulation and, most
importantly, to our exposure in an actual clinical scenario. Improving the health of moms and
their children while also assisting them in adjusting to their environment through competent,
kind, and professional nursing care is both significant and difficult. In light of this, providing
customized care need to be a habit. Despite my best efforts to avoid it, I must admit that there
were occasions when I slept off during the class, but thanks to our clinical instructor, I have been
awake ever since till the end of the course because she never forgets to crack a joke in the middle
of the discussion and I truly appreciate the way our clinical instructor connects with us with her
humor while teaching us, despite the fact that we are using an online platform. Because nursing
involves working with human beings, nursing practice is also more difficult than it may seem. In
addition to this, policies and protocols may vary depending on the situation, but the underlying
principles of practice remain the same. Understanding these principles and the reasoning behind
actions can help us future nurses fulfill our duties. With the experiences, teachings and lessons
goes along. Nevertheless, I have gained a great deal of knowledge on this subject. I would have
given my prior learning a 2 out of 10. I honestly believed that this course would only cover
topics related to child development, the mother-infant bond, and a few nursing theoretician
notions, but I was mistaken. I would give the semester a 6 out of 10, as I have learnt a whole lot
more than just the subject's name.
