My name is Jacquelyn La, and I am very excited to be applying for the position of a registered nurse in
the pediatrics unit at your hospital. One of my primary goals at [applying hospital] is to use my
experience and knowledge that I gained in nursing school with our emphasis in integrative health to
improve patient outcomes, while also building relationships with them during a time of uncertainty. I will
be grateful for the opportunity to accomplish this goal in the pediatric unit at [applying hospital].

During my pediatric clinical, I had the wonderful opportunity to be a student in the pediatric ICU. This
gave me the experience to help provide care to children, but I also got to learn more about the wide scope
of illnesses and how it differed from working with an adult population, as well as connect it directly to
my knowledge and learning at the time. It came to me that although it is very different to care for
pediatrics versus adults, I am eager to expand my understanding as I continue to gain more practice and
skills in both aspects of care. The involvement into this scope of practice helped me understand the
importance of the connection of parents with their children’s healthcare and outcomes. As nurses, it is a
primary goal that parents are informed and at ease about their children during their time of care. Creating
a bond with parents and their children is a priority to me in the way that I want both parties to have a
sense of comfort, and I will ensure that this takes place in the health care setting. With my experience of
being in a nursing program that emphasizes integrative health, I believe that this will be a valuable skill in
this setting as I was taught to provide holistic care to a person’s whole being. This will be beneficial not
only towards patients, but on the team as well, as this is significant in promoting health and well-being.

At [applying hospital], I believe that in the pediatric unit, I will try to the best of my ability to help each
family and their child feel supported and provided with the utmost care in order to ensure that both parties
encounter top-quality healthcare. It is very important to give patients a sense of hope as we improve their
health and well-being. Making it a priority for patients to receive a high standard of care will impact
patients’ lives and make it hopeful that they come back to [applying hospital] for future attention as we
continue to transform the healthcare community.
