This document provides instructions for offsetting the X-axis coordinate for Tool #1 on a CNC lathe. The 3 step process involves: 1) manually turning a workpiece with Tool #1, 2) measuring the turned diameter and entering it as the X offset value for Tool #1, and 3) pressing "measure" to sync the machine X coordinate with the workpiece X coordinate and update the X offset value for Tool #1.

Step 1: Set turret index to Tool #1 > Perform a turning operation manually using the “HANDLE” or “CUTTING” Mode.
Step 2: While the tool touches and is positioned right
on top of the diameter of the workpiece, do the following operations: > Measure the diameter of the turned surface of the workpiece. Have it written or memorized.
> Press the “OFF/SET” Function button.
> Select the “OFFSET” option in the CRT
display.
> Select “GEOM” option in the CRT display.
> Move the highlight under the X column of
Tool No. 1 using the arrow keys.
> Type in the measured diameter of the
turned surface using the alphanumeric keys on the command strip. “X_ _._ _” It is recommended to indicate up to three decimal places.
> Press the “MEASURE” option on the CRT
display. This will synch the machine X coordinate with the work X coordinate.
*Notice how the X value of Tool No.1
changes and updates. You have now successfully synched the X o set of your Tool #1.
