B. Description of the Performance Task


The performance task involves essay writing based on an article read by the teacher about social issues. The teacher will
read the article twice after which the learner will identify a specific issue and will write an informative essay declaring
his/her stand on this issue. This is an individual output that must be accomplished within 1 hour.

C. Instruction for the Teacher


1. Find a conducive area for the listening activity.
2. Print out an article about social issues to be used for the listening activity.
3. Remind the learners of the time allotment which is 3 hours.
4. Read the article twice.
5. Instruct the learner to write an informative essay.
6. Monitor and guide the learner while doing the task.
7. Discuss and provide each learners a copy of Attachment 1 Learners’ Guide, Attachment 2 Reflection Paper, and
Attachment 3 Learners’ Score Sheet.
