Introduction
Music creates cohesion across different culture. This course explores the music culture of selected regions of the world which opens an avenue to
appreciate music of diverse people groups through listening, singing, and performing. Through the exposure with few musical gold, it will help foster
one’s connection from one culture to another.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to:
1. Discuss the concept and nature of music, music culture, and music structure.
2. Articulate an appreciation and critical perspective on the ancient and new world traditions of music of selected regions.
3. Perform a musical form that reflects a certain genre and style of music in a region.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
There are graded requirements in this course:

5. Authentic Performance/Assessment
Students are expected to individually accomplish class participation. The assignment and authentic performance will be completed with a partner or
group. Below is a brief description of each of them.
Assignment
This requirement aims for the students to explore firsthand the music concepts and course activities such as listening, singing, and creating music
outcomes.
Authentic Performance
This requirement aims for the students to show their remarkable musicality, skills, and knowledge through performing the concepts they have learned
for the whole semester. They are expected to display their creativity in creating painting, composing a simple music works or simple poems, and
acting like an artist. This could be done individually, by pair or group.
Peer Evaluation
Since all exercises are done in groups, each student must provide feedback to his/her groupmate to make sure that the FIC can have an insight if
projects are being done as a group and to ensure that all members have equal share of the load and get an evaluation that they truly deserve.
