MEANS OF TRANSPORT
Text 1 It’s very popular in Asia. Don’t be afraid to get into such a colourful vehicle. You can even take
your friends with you; up to four people can sit inside! Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the city.
When you get off, don’t forget to leave a tip for the driver!
Text 2 Many people are afraid of air travel but, in fact, it’s one of the safest means of transport.
Just fasten your seatbelt when taking off or landing. Sit in comfort and admire the clouds. It’s fascinating.
Text 3 You probably know it from school trips. Teenagers usually want to sit at the back and have
fun, listening to music or playing games. The best thing is that you can always ask the driver to stop
when you want something to eat or need to go to the toilet.
Text 4 This is only found in big cities. For example, there is one in Warsaw. Maybe, in the future, there
will be more of them in Poland. The oldest one is in London. It’s much faster than trams or buses.
However, the views are not the best in the world. In fact, you cannot see anything apart from the
tunnels and the platforms.
Text 5 There’s no excuses for not having enough time. You can always find a few minutes, even for
a short ride. There are lots of lanes for riders. It’s a good way to stay fit and healthy. Just check the
weather forecast before setting off. You don’t want to get wet, do you?

TAPESCRIPT
Kate: Jack, do you want to help me?
Jack: Sure. What are you doing?
Kate:
I ’m trying to find some ideas for our holidays. Look. This is a website where you can find different types
of accommodation in San Sebastian in Spain. It’s called “Sweet Home”. Do you know this website?
Jack:
Yes, I do. Do you remember uncle Joe? He used it last year. He spent 5 days in a tent in France. He was
really satisfied with the website.
Kate:
I would like to have something more comfortable than a tent. I’m thinking about an apartment with
internet access and two bathrooms. It says that there’s a beautiful view of the ocean from this one.
Jack: Mum won’t like it. Look at the price.
Kate:
W hat?! They must be joking. Staying in a villa in our city for one month would be cheaper than that.
Let’s try and find something else.
Jack:
D on’t forget about our grandpa. He can’t climb stairs. We should rather choose a bungalow, not too far
from the centre or the ocean.
Kate: Fine. What about this? It’s got two bedrooms and a toilet.
Jack: But there isn’t any bathroom or a kitchen. The green one looks much better.
Kate: Oh. I didn’t notice it. You’re right. It’s got a bathroom, a small kitchen – it’s got everything we need.
Jack: Absolutely! Except it’s 400 metres from the beach, but 4 km from the centre. What about shopping?
Kate: We could take a bus there. It can’t take no more than 5 minutes.
Jack:
O K. Dad wanted to go somewhere in a camper van, but I think he will change his mind when he sees
this offer.
Kate: Let’s go and tell him. I can’t wait!
