    There are several thousand parts in a marine engine that are essential for it to run.

    In this section, we shall divide the engine into its major parts and try to explain their purpose
    and working. We shall be covering the following parts:

    Bedplate

    A-frame

    Entablature or Cylinder block

    Crankshaft

    Connecting rod

    Crosshead

    Piston

    Cylinder liner

    Cylinder head or cylinder cover

    Exhaust valve

    Camshaft
