ANCIENT ORIGINS
The roots of badminton can be found
in ancient civilizations, where games
involving hitting objects with rackets
or hands were played. For instance,
ancient Greeks played a game called
"battledore and shuttlecock," which
involved hitting a shuttlecock-like
object with a wooden paddle.

The game's modern form is often
credited to India, where a game
known as "Poona" was played. British
military officers stationed in India
during the 19th century became
familiar with Poona and brought the
game back to England.
