Engine not cranking
Probable Cause Remedial Action to be taken by Loco Pilot

MR Pressure Trouble

Probable Remedial Action to be taken by

AIR DRYER

MR 1.Check air leakages from

2.After attending ensure engine
RPM coming to idle (During air
leakages, engine RPM will
increase due to AIR Compressor
operation)
3.If Air dryer purge valve, or drain
valves are blowing continuously, RADAR MAG.
by pass it by switching off Air VALVE
. Dryer circuit breaker or through
COC, it may be plugged with a
threaded plug.
4.If MR1 and MR2 ABD (Auto
blow down) valves are blowing
then close ABD valves to OFF
side & drain moisture manually

Unusual 1.Check correct compressor oil
sound from level if found less than low mark
compressor shut down the loco & inform

2. If any unusual sound from LP
& HP cylinder, inter coolers and
safety valve or any air leakage
inform shed to confirm whether COMPRESSOR
to continue working or not.
Improper 1.Close MR1 ‘J’ filter COC
loading and and drain out the trapped
