ALTERNATIVE ASSAULT PROCESS (pages 22, 23)

1. Attacker and Defender Each Roll 1D6
2. Attacker and Defender Each Independently Apply Modifiers to Roll
3. Attacker and Defender Compare Final Modified Results (High = Advantage)
4. Determine Margin of Advantage (Equal = Draw)
5. See Final Difference Table (Attacker Advantage, Defender Advantage, Draw)
5. Apply Outcome
MODIFIERS (page 22) Defender Attacker
If Defender in Cover/Terrain (See Terrain Effects) +1 to +6
If Defender Outflanked +2
If In Depth +1 +1
If Aggressive +1 +1
If Side Has Numerical Advantage 3:2 / 2:1 / 3:1 +1 / +2 / +3
If Fragile -1 -1
If Disrupted -1 -1
If Low Ammo -1 -1
If Silenced Artillery -1 -1
If Spent -2 -2

FINAL DIFFERENCE TABLE (page 23)

Advantage Margin Outcome
+7 Defender Disrupted, lose 2 bases & Retire full; Attacker not Disrupted & Must Exploit
Attacker +4-6 [DIS] Defender lose 1 base & Retire 9”; Attacker May Exploit or Occupy
+1-3 [DIS] Defender Retire 3”; Attacker Occupies Position
Draw 0 [DIS] Both lose 1 base & immediately resolve new assault
+1-3 [DIS] Attacker Retires 3”
Defender +4-6 [DIS] Attacker loses 1 base and Retires 6”
+7 Attacker Disrupted, lose 2 bases & Retire Full; Defender not Disrupted
[DIS] = ALL UNITS ARE DISRUPTED (ART SILENCED) AFTER 1st ROUND OF ASSAULT

Exploitation (page 23) An exploiting unit immediately conducts an assault against an enemy unit that is
within its front firing arc and within half its normal movement allowance, ignoring all terrain penalties
except impassable terrain. Exploit must observe restrictions of ZOCs. The assault is resolved without
defensive or offensive fire. If there is no eligible target and the attacker must exploit (or chooses to exploit)
the assaulting unit must move half move towards the nearest enemy unit. An exploiting unit may join
another assault (by another unit) that has not yet been resolved, either by providing a second rank or by
also contacting defending unit (this assault must be resolved next). A unit can only conduct one exploit per
turn (ignore 2nd exploit result).

Automatic Exploitation (page 20) If a unit being assaulted is destroyed by Offensive Fire before the
Assault can be resolved, the assaulting unit(s) are considered to have obtained a 7+ result & Must Exploit.
