TYPES OF ENSEMBLES
Music ensembles can be categorized into various types based on their composition and
performance style. Some ensembles consist solely of instrumentalists, such as jazz
quartets or orchestras, while others consist solely of singers, such as choirs. Common
types include string quartets, brass ensembles, flute choirs, percussion ensembles, wind
bands, and more. There are also –

PURPOSE
Ensemble playing is more than the sum of its individual parts. Playing in an
ensemble allows students to develop team skills, sacrificing one's ego to benefit the
team. Whether students have the melody or harmony, students learn to listen and non-
verbally communicate with each other to create music as a team.
JAZZ BAND
A jazz band is a musical ensemble that specializes in playing jazz music. It typically
consists of instruments such as trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, piano, double
bass, and percussion. Jazz bands vary in size and the style of jazz they play, and they
often feature rhythm instruments like drums and pianos. These bands can be made up of
